Hello,
I have a ford festiva with a BP in it and I bought this kit from a guy on fordfestiva.com.
What else should I need to turbo the car?
I myself have never turbo'd a car before and my friend (that lives 3 hours away) is the guy in charge of showing me how to do this/ building it.
Can you guys think of any other odds and ends that I could need?
Sorry for the copy and paste job from the ad I bought it from
thanks guys!
1. MS1 V3 with flat shift option, running MSxtra code I believe (can find out, been awhile fuel + spark), also has the option to run VICS sensors if wanted (currently not used). This is a plug and play kit that LEX from CP.com. You plug it right into your stock harness and put a jumper wire in your VAF plug and its ready to go.
2. Zeitronix Wideband with LCD display, comes with Boost Sensor and EGT sensor, along with A/F.
3. Custom turbo log style manifold. I built this from the kits (JGS Precision) . I currently have the alternator located underneath it and it all fits with stock radiator with a little adjustment.
4. Intercooler and piping. If you bring me a replacement rust free front bumper beam you can have the one I modified to go with the intercooler and piping.
5. Generic BOV (not too loud, good sound) with charge pipe adapter for mounting, the IAT sensor bung is also welded into this pipe for the kit.
6. Two turbos. Current one is a China turbo with about 2000 miles on it (drove to NC and back to NY on it) no play in it, but it is a china turbo. Also have a Garrette of about the same side, think .57 trim. Internal wastegate on the chinaturbo, have to check the garrette, but I believe the same.
7. Oil feed adapter sandwich plate with stainless steel feed line
8. Drain pan with bung jb welded into it, and stainless steel drain line. Would need you to supply a replacement BP oil pan before I pulled this one.
9. Downpipe and exhaust (2.5" high flow cat, and resonator). The downpipe welds are not pretty so it is nothing special, is heatwrapped though. Sits about 1/4" from radiator and didn't seem to cause a problem.
That is about $1400 worth of parts.
Would be willing to sell for $1000 plus a bumper beam and oil pan replacement.
Just seeing what interest there is and I can get some pictures of everything. I think that is the whole swap, but I may have forgot something.
10. Manual boost controller
FULL DISCLOSURE: I am 99% sure the MS unit is perfect, but my car was not running correctly when I drove it last down to FMIV, I believe the issue was outside the unit, but it could have been the base tune I guess. You will be responsible for tuning your MS if you buy the unit, the basemap will let you run and drive but I only got about 27mpg due to leaky injectors and not running correctly.
11. 460cc rx7 injectors with harness (injector plugs are crimped on, need to be soldered for long term use).
