From my looking around, it would be cheaper to buy a BP-T, and used BP is around 300-400 and the manifold for a 16g was qouted at 300 while the turbo itself was 600. Im thinking the BP-T would be the less complicated and worry free way to go since so many people have done it, from there you can always get a bigger turbo. Screw the negative comments, you want more power just like most people do.

It's not about being negative, but realistic. So many people on here seem to think that they can have a fast turbo car for under $1K. They fail to realize that there's much more than just the turbo and manifold for a proper setup.

^^ exactly. im not trying to start any ****, i mean, who doesn't want to go fast. but turboing a car for a 1000 or less, reliably is kinda unheard of. he's not an auto crosser, but, suspension and brakes should be thought of as well. good luck in whatever he does, but overall, a gtx engine is the best choice imo.
        i hate being broke!

I don't agree with that..ask anyone that is autocrossing on a stock engine with an upgraded suspension if it was pointless for them to "upgrade the rest."

im sorry ive gotten a bit lost in this thread. So if I were to turbo my bp, how much would it cost? I can't do my own labor.

uhhhh it COULD be done reliably for less than a grand......just run low boost, say 4 PSI and engine management wouldn't be necessary...

ya it's true. I dunno about under 1k but maybe like 1300. You get the GTX, an fmic, some pipes and thats it lol. Get it all in. I have my gtx matted to my stock escort GT exh with an escort gt ecu and harness, running 8.8psi (lowest it'll run). It runs perfect except for a higher than avg idle.

And MAtt, i forgot about suspension lol, it's true my car is a sloppy sally and it needs some work done anything over 70 this thing feels horrible as well. But brakes, totally un needed for a LONG time.

so at 4psi what are the hp gains? (roughly)

also, the 1300 only covers parts right? (i probably would need to pay to get this stuff installed unless you all think a n00b like me can do it)
and just to re-iterate, i only need the turbo, pipes, and a front mount inter cooler? (no bov, new fuel system, ecu, etc.)

as of late, i've really become interested in dropping a turbo into my car.

its not absolutely necessary to have a BOV, but its a very good idea. I wouldn't boost mine without one...

If you wanna run 4 psi, then you're gonna need an external adjustable wastegate. That alone will run you about 2 bills. About how much power it'll make all depends on what turbo you're running. A bigger turbo can produce higher hp w/ less boost then a smaller one. It depends on the CFMs of the turbo.
