I'm going to be using my AWR coilovers that were on my BJ. The fronts fit without modification. The rears need a small change to the lower bracket. The coilovers have adjustable Koni inserts.

I'll be working on getting the motor mounted this weekend. That is really the main hold up right now.

Step 1 of mounting the engine in the car is complete. I've got the engine positioned correctly in the car. Now I just need to modify the mounts to bolt up. The rear mount is raised about a 1/2". I'll need to slot the holes in the front mount support a little for it to line up correctly. The driver's side mount is very close, but I'll need to adjust it with a few washers and a small sleeve. I've got an idea for the passenger side mount using part of one of the mounts I got out of the Kia. It will just need a sleeve machined and a bracket welded to it. So far so good.

It's no worse than it is on the 3rd Gen Protege. A 90 degree silicone bend should clear it easily.

XelderX Nice work! Quick question. Your topic is "FSP 1st Gen Protege", but a 1st gen with a 3rd gen engine swap is only SCCA legal in modified. Was the plan to run in mod?

You can put a motor from the same family in the car as long as you don't freakly put the motor in.

                    ala k20 in an eg.

Under SCCA SOLO2 rules, a 3rd gen motor in a 1st Gen is only legal in mod. If you did a BG BP into a BG DX, even that is only legal in SM, FSP has to use an engine that came with that trim level of car. Here's the rule book if you want to look it up: http://scca.org/documents/Solo%20Rul...lo_Rules_2.pdf

In Street Prepared all the Proteges are listed on the same line in the appendix. As far as Street Prepared is concerned all Proteges are the same.
