It's my one and only. I'm not going to go out racing in it.
Fair enough, although I can almost guarantee you won't crash. If it's your first track day you'll going pretty slowly to learn the line, and everyone else will be too. There's no passing in corners, no wheel to wheel racing, and (of course) no bumping.
People bring some expensive-ass cars there, so everyone's very serious about keeping the event safe and crash-free.
The only way you'd have an accident is if you made a huge driving mistake and crashed into the wall. Drive within your abilities and that won't happen.
By the way, that's a lot of posts.

You've never seen me drive, I'm aggressive as hell.
Heh, aggressiveness doesn't get you much of anywhere, especially if you don't have any roadcourse experience.
I see the aggressive guys all the time in the lower run groups. They are very slow. At NHIS in particular, being fast is a matter of choosing the best line and knowing when to sacrifice speed for smoothness. If you're at Watkins Glen you can get a little further just by being a nut because the corners aren't connected. Fastest I see at NHIS is about 88.
There's one place where I like to have a little fun and pick up a wheel or two. Otherwise, I'm smooth and controlled.
And finally, like someone else said, if you really plan on being aggressive you're much safer doing it on a track. I've been to NHIS 10 times and I've only seen 2 cars hit the wall. One was a 911 who lost it coming onto the NASCAR oval in the rain, and one was an airhead who lost control coming down the hill in corner 10. Both were fairly minor accidents. And, what's more important, no one else hit him because everyone is very focused on what they're doing. That's not the case on the street, where you have aloof drivers, pedestrians, old ladies that can't see very well, etc.

Yep, costs are high: tires, ball joints, wheel bearings, suspension components--all of these can wear very quickly. Over the next few months I'm going to start getting my protege ready for IT racing (providing the chief scrutineer will OK a DX converted to LX trim). That'll be a few more thousand right away for cage, seat/harness, real suspension, licensing, etc.
so if you can get up to 88mph in a DX... i wonder what kind of tops speeds i'd see with a stiffer suspension and 3x the horsepower... =o

The main straight is so short that it probably wouldn't as huge of a difference as you might think. In my VR-4, which is as fast in a straight line as the previous generation Porsche GT3, I would see just over 100, if I remember right.
The straights are just so damn short that lots of power isn't worth that much. That's why I can stay with much "faster" cars in my DX.
