The 14.99 run was done on a g-tech pro from what i remember. My friend Josh ran 15.2 in his protege gt 2 seasons ago. Should be breaking 15s this summer!

FYI for every 50lbs you remove from our cars drops 0.07-0.1 seconds off your time. My friend Josh experimented with this, he even bought spare doors, cut the insides out and crash supports, removed the glass and added some thick clear plastic to them. I believe he was at 10-13lbs a DOOR.

He also removed his headliner, rear seats, trunk lining, powersteering, car never had a/c, glove box, console, and ran 205/50r14 hoosiers in the front.

His 15.2 run he was sitting at 128whp and 115tq from what i remember.

0-60 was 1.987 i think, and his 1/8th was really low too, can't recall right now.

    JACK.

I can tell you for a fact that a stripped protege weighs under 2000#, closer to 1900. With almost 130whp and slicks I seriously don't know how he didn't get 14's.

he's 320lbs lol. big guy. so he basically tried to strip his own weight off the car.

you'll have to proove the 14's jon... it will be exceptionally difficult i promise you that. my 323 with me in it daily driven is roughly 2700lbs. no chance in hell you can get my car under 2000.

                  here are my mods/specs:
                  stock exhaust (w00t!)
                  s/r struts/eibach springs
                  103k on a 95 EGT motor
rx7 vaf mounted in modified stock airbox with a bitchin' fram filter
                  headlight removed for l33t ram-air effect =o
                  BFG drag radials 205 50 15 (helped me run a 12.61 with a 1.97 60' in the other car)
                  93 octane fuel
                  18* ignition advance
                  verge-of-slipping stock clutch
taylor thundervolt wires borrowed from the GTR (every little bit helps)
new NGK v-power plugs, new cap and rotor
ES mount inserts, and maybe LCA bushings if i get ambitious
                  my l33t driving skillz

I really don't think this will get you into the 14's...you'll have a nice 1/8th time since you're running stock exhaust/intake. Have some lower end TQ...assides from that you'd need the basics header/intake/exhaust. Try running premium and bumpin your timing to 18*. Also try the exhintake cam swap and get the cam gea drilled at the 197.5* and see how she runs.

Maybe take off your muffler? haha i don't know dude, there's not much there to break 15s.

                  All the luck regardless!

                  JACK.

I had a bad 16.13 @89 with my protege gt. Mind you i was running my DD tires, 0-60 was 2.013 though. Not overly bad. This was with header/intake/exhaust/18* timing/random ignition crap. After i put an AFPR on it, i could have seen my car making a good 15.5.-15.7 run. If i stripped the interior too i could have gotten her low 15s.

A lot of the problem is launching right, it's hard to get a perfect launch, at least on street tires. If you got a badass launch I'd be really surprised if you hit low 15's the stock exhaust is that bad dude.

Yep 1 7/8" or 2" is way to tiny for the BP at higher RPMs...i still don't know why people don't believe that 2.5" is perfect for top end power. Power loss was only noted at 3-4whp under 3,000rpm. But the gain was 6-7whp between 5,700-6,300 from what i can remember. Hell even advancing your timing to 18* has an 8whp gain lol.

why do they make it sound so hard for a bp to break in. in the low 15's to mid 15's. when i had my sohc protege it did 16.3 i didnt have much done do it and my driving was horible and for those who are curious the car only had a intake, cheap ebay muffler, a/c was removed. back seat was taken out for the raced w/ everything on the trunk.

Trapping 89 is pretty damn good, for what it's worth stock older WRX's trap low-mid 90's.
