i agree about the less power vs. ventilated block thing lol. mine is still a stock GTR motor too, cast pistons and all.

shifting time etc doesnt have much to do with trap either. it seriously affects ET though.

Can you explain the knock sense is useless...?

As I have read (not fact) perfect mixture is very very close to engine knock...!?

knock sensors will drop your timing if it hears any internal noises...but that can be something easy as a HLA...plus it only drops timing 1* i believe.

perfect mixture for fuel economy is 14.7:1, best for power is around 12-12.5:1, so idk what you mean mixture being close to engine knock...

I'm running less timing just to be safe since I only run 91 gas. And I've tuned as well for mid to high 11 at 23-24 psi (I only run 20 daily though) because of the cast pistons. With nicer pistons, you could go to low-mid 12 but I rather have a bit less power and have it in 1 piece than 10 more hp and a ventilated block.
Totally true on the less power thing lol

my laptop was freaking out on me most of the day, but i DID get a datalog of the 11.87 pass :D. unfortunately when i tried to save the tune afterwards, the msq wound up being corrupted somehow, so i don't have that. i'll try to get something posted up for you lex.

if anyone wants to compare with a stopwatch, i went from 5000 to 7000rpm in 3rd in 3.1 seconds

that calculates out to 69mph to 97 mph =o

I haven't done a lot of tuning, but looking at your IAT's wouldn't that indicate your intercooler is saturated by the time you hit 4th gear? Also it looks like the map signal is bouncing around a little bit.. a bit of noise maybe?

the map signal was smoother with the EBC, but its always been a little noisy. hasnt seemed to effect anything negatively.

i'd say 112 degrees at the end of the track when running that much boost is pretty darn good. the intercooler is pretty huge, its like a 3.5 x 8 x 20something core

Are you running a map based tune?? I notice your injector pulse width and a/f ratios are moving up and down in time with the noise on your map signal.. It might be small and minnor but do you think smoothing that out might maintane better afrs?? Could be a simple as putting a filter on the map vacume line... ??

You are more then likely right with the IAT's it would be nice to see data from different people to compair... Is the intercooler fully exposed? maybe more air flow over it will help bring them down more...

I dunno just some thoughts and idea's where minor tweeks might help out..

yes its a map based tune. i'd love to smooth it out more, and like i said it was better with electronic boost control (which i'll have again in the spring). the map sensor has its own dedicated vac line, and there's already a filter on it.

the intercooler isnt fully exposed, the bumper is still stock. ive been trying to find a cheap/free black EGT bumper to cut a gaping hole in, that i could swap on for track days.

I would be very interested to know if there was any knocking with the timing and AFRs shown running on pump gas.

My intercooler initially cools off and then warms up to around the same 112 degrees. The warm up curve is quite interesting. An inline filter worked great for me. I should post some of my runs.
