Yes 4 individual tubes into the collector held on by springs---then the exhaust slips over and is held on by springs---it's rubber mounted to the chassis---but each side is only 30" long with no muffler. It's gonna' be loud!!!!

Yeah-Speed's gonna' have 16 hours of coverage weekend after next---no offense to the team, but I think they'll be in and out of the pits alot...you should be able to hear it a bunch.

The car looks fantastic. I'll have to see if I can spot it in the coverage.

It shouldn't be hard to spot---it'll be the one shooting 2 foot flames on downshifts out the 30" exhaust pipes...either that or the one getting black flagged for sound violations! (JK they got a waiver for the weekend I'm sure being the 24 hours of Daytona and all...) Watch for the #86 (I think) Royal Purple Prey Racing Porsche Boxster racing in the Continental Challenge race on Friday---I built that one and hooked Chris up with a seasoned pro---Gene Sigal---I'm expecting a top 10 and hoping for a podium from that one!

Given that you have experience with the full spectrum - from Escort to Porsche to Ferrari - does the Ferrari stand up to its reputation and is it worth the cash?

That question has been asked nearly everyday since the car arrived. I believe the answer is maybe...If your answering that question based on purely performance numbers to dollar value then no...A ZO6 for a quarter of the price---a mosler---a noble and many others surpass the performance numbers/value easily. If your answering based on strictly it's value as a racecar then no---In the Rolex GT category---the Porsche is king---the tubeframe cars are also a better value---in ALMS the Ferrari may have an advantage, but with a huge pricetag...

Now as an exotic---yes---the exhaust note, the lines, the feel of the mid-engine, the paddleshifter (they actually had to change the maps in the sequential box to make it feel like you were shifting gears---it's that seamless now). Also the racing heritage of Ferrari is truly a model of SUCCESS!!! This is a company that barely breaks even every year---sells a fraction of the cars that one busy Galpin Ford dealership in the valley sells alone by themselves---but has one of the biggest budgets to go play in F1. It's value is in it's appeal to people with money looking for a toy to show off at the Sunday morning starbucks...

With all of this said----the escort I'm building in the other bay is 25 times nicer in preparation than the Ferrari. While it doesn't have the speed because of power to weight, the escort would run 24 hours---I'd say 48 hours with no issues when I'm done with it. You can watch in a couple of weeks and see how the Ferrari does at Daytona---it won't have issues because of prep---the mechanics that have been preparing the chassis (Giuseppe and Antonio) are amazing as they have both either worked at the Ferrari factory, or have been preparing them for more than 10 years as racecars. The car is being prepared to the highest level with no budget constraint---only a time constraint because it's a last minute deal---to go racing at the highest level of motorsports in america and argueably the most competitive series in the world...I'm curious as you are to see how Ferrari stacks up against the German dogs...I'll keep posting the progress pics and race updates---if I get the numbers I'll post up the budgets---those are amazing in themselves!!!

I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.
