I had to relearn how to drive it. It changed the way the car handled, but we got it figured out.

Somehow I feel like "we got it figured out" is an understatement .

Do you prefer the quaife or your old differential? I loved that quaife from day 1, although I was putting 2x the power through it, and my previous experience was with an open diff. I actually bought a quaife for my Toyota trans as well, still completely happy with it.

I love it. It allows for much earlier throttle application than the old viscous Mazdaspeed diff. The trade off is that it causes a little more understeer under braking. That was a problem with my old driving style which was to throw the car into a corner a little hot and let the rotation scrub off the extra speed. With the Quaife I just get on the brakes a little earlier and then get back on the gas as much as possible before the apex of the corner and let the diff pull the car around the apex. All we had to do to get the lift-throttle oversteer back is add a little rear air pressure and crank the rebound up on the rear shocks. We still have a lot of ideas to play with next season including adding a rear spoiler to decrease rotation at higher speeds and setting the car up to rotate well at low speeds when the spoiler isn't creating as much downforce.
