what should I use in my GTR trans / center / and rear diff? i plan on using the car for autox and maybe a little time just driving on the street. I have a decent amount of engine work but it is NA for now and will be for at least a year or two, and i made sure to get a dual friction clutch so the clutch would give a little

Also i'm curious about the trans cooler, how do you do a trans cooler on a manual car?

I think if you're doing any competition/motorsport/hotrodding on these gearboxes, it's worth getting away from the atf and putting something a bit heavier in there. The only reason my street car still has a 50-50 mix of redline mtl and heavy shockproof in it, is that I haven't had time to drain it and put that Torco stuff in there.
Trans cooler involves making a pair of hose fittings in the case. The low hole goes to a big ass Tilton pump, the pump goes to the cooler, and the return hose goes to the high hole. I suppose I could have run the hoses to the trans cooler built into the rad, but the b&m unit I bet works better. You won't need a trans cooler for autox, it isn't running long enough to get hot. Roadrace/trackdays, yah it's prolly worth the effort.

ok sounds like something i'll have to save up again for and do when i'm doing other work.... any chance of a write up on this or is is a pretty easy thing to figure out? i'm kind of nervouse on the idea of taking my gtr trans apart, finding spare parts if i break anything seems highly unlikely

Send me a pm and I can send pix to your email addy. That and the above info oughtta be enough to figure it out. Just make sure the upper hole dumps lube in above the fill level, and that the lower hole pulls it out below the fill level! Of course following the procedures in the manual for taking a trans apart applies!

I've used it in the street car, works fine. Next time I change lube though it'll be that GL6 goop.

                  Dooood. Jaaaay.

I was talking to John Lane tonite. He told me you thought the Torco stuff was the Bomb for the mazda box. So I googled Torco. The post here on club protege came up even before Torco's website did...hahahaha....

I've got the BPT motor and tranny and LSD diff in the car. How much will I need to buy to do one round of gear goop?

How'd you fill it? Funnel? Pump?

Also yeah while I'm thinking about it. What kind of Slave Cylinder setup are you running on the BPT gearbox. I need a need a new mo betta one that works.

Dude that's a laugh riot. Someone needs to tell Torco to do something abouit thier site!
I bought a case of the stuff, figuring I'd use it up soon enough. I can't remember off the top o' my head what the capacaties are, gimme some time and maybe I'll look it up. I've got 5.5 bottles left, and I did the rear end too, so I bet 4 liters would cover you. I'd also look into their synthetic 79/90. Filled it with a hand pump. Took some time but a funnel woulda been slower.
As for a clutch slave, it's new oem and works fine. Stay away from one made in China though...damn thing leaked the first time I pushed the clutch in.

If you have a 4wd it takes 3 quarts if you have a fwd it should only take 2.5 quarts.
