yeah buddy, the KBB value on my car is a little over 5.5K.. which mainly means i could probobly get a mint 1'st Gen LX and have enough left over for a GTX swap

You can get a 1st gen LX in really good shape for less than $2,000... Melissa's car only had 130,000 miles on it and it was barely over a grand. And a GTX swap wouldn't cost more than a couple grand so you'd have plenty left over for some good rims/tires and a big FMIC

Not too much more. But you can get them with goodies like leather seats and stuff. Really neat looking dashboard, too.

I'm not sure which would be easier to convert to a BPT though, an I4 or a V6 model. Either way you have parts to swap.

The MX-3 is slightly heavier though, but it is marginally wider.

Of course, KL-ZE isn't a bad option either. 200hp and 200ft-lbs of torque, plus a 2.5L V6 probably sounds better than a 1.8L I4. (Though I do like the sound of my turbo I4).

Is there room to work around a KL-ZE in the MX-3? or is it crammed in there

It's definetly easier to swap a KL-ZE into an MX-3 GS, the swap is almost a straight R&R.

does it need a new tranny also?

I think you can use the 1.8L v6 tranny.

If you want the BP it is reccomended to start with the RS model. (1.6L)
Problem is tho, gotta find one with full options and even then rear drums not like the GS.

I am right now going to go GS ~> BPT. Everyone, and I mean everyone is telling me that I am nuts and the swap is gonna cost me $$$. But I looked into it and it seems about the only parts that are needed beyond swapping the BPT into a 323, are small stuff like motor mounts and Speedo cluster.

Right now I am trying to solve the cluster issue. MX's are electric speedo driver, and the Pro is cable. I was thinking I might try to either use the cable driven guts off my old 323 cluster and see if I could work them into the MX cluster, or use the MX's speedo sensor on the pro tranny somehow.

If anyone knows, I am all ears.

I might actually be getting yet another MX.... lol. One of my friends has one with a broken tie rod he is gonna let go for cheap... If I can fix it, I am gonna sell it and use the $$$ for my swap.

but if you talk to Wil, he is looking to dump the V6 for the turbo I4. He said the v6 is pretty quick, but its not fun really. IDK, talk to him and see what he thinks.

There is alot about the 2.5L swap on the MX-3.com board if you get some time to poke around there.
