i dont know waht the debate is here b/c the 3rd gens are pretty slow regardless of how "cute and shiney they are.

And ive seen 1st hand a ZE mx3 wipe the floor with a Boosted BP @7lbs. Na Bp in a mx3 is about as fast as a 1st gen dx..lol. ZE in a mx3 with the ze ecu exhaust is good for 14.5, thats what a friend of mine ran in his, iwht a slipping clutch, so i say 14.2. K8 is slow - KlDE runs very well in a mx3, But a ZE is a Big difference it doesnt look like much on paper. But there is a big difference. And i have driven and rode in a boosted Klze@8lbs in a mx3.....and i must say it is well worht it. not too many cars can touch it truthfully. But the K motors arent boost motors to me. people say they are, but it just doesnt handle the boost unless u build it. There rev happy killer NA motors. a friend of mine has been thru all 4 K series motors and even a frankenstein Kl. Boosted Klze - boosted Klde - boosted Kfze - Boosted Klde block with ZE heads - boosted K8 coming soon...lol. And they all do the same thing, even under 7lbs with fuel upgrade it still looses compression and melts rings, and or throws a rod after a month or so. Moist motors shoudl be able to handle 7lbs even with a minor fuel upgrade.

Actually an n/a bp in a mx-3 moves out, ALOT faster than your protege to say the least. Mx-3 with a ze is boring, unless you are satisfied with a 14second time slip. A guy named babybluemx3 on the mx-3 forums fully built his ze and boosted it and i must say it is impressive. If i recall right he is making about 350whp on 7 psi on a t3/t04e. If your into all motor then go for it, its just alot of work. And actually the mx-3 isnt too heavy. The RS weighs in at 2350 with all fluids topped off, full interior and all accessories, the GS v6 weights in at about 2450 because of the rear brakes, motor, etc. A fellow member of the mx-3 forums got his rs to weigh 2150lbs with him in it (decent size guy) and he still has all safety options and no supports cut out, and is in the mid to high 14sec range on an all motor bp with only a catback exhaust.........not bad, atleast not in my book considering we are not a go kart like a crx, and not as fragile as ek and eg hatches. a bp in a MX3 WILL NOT be anywhere close to a one in protege i dont care what u say. And definately not mine. Ive ran one and driven, its just not the same. A mx3 GS with a Bp in it Weighs almost 2600lbs with a driver, and a 12" sub whish is about 20lbs at most. I dont know what it is the extra wieght, or the way its made. My old Bp with header - exhaust in my car was a decently peppy car and our little group of friends, we raced and played around much and i knew where it stood. When we did the Kl swap to my protege, and put my Bp in the GS, it didnt run as quick. it was actually alot slwer than my car was, and is the slowest out of all of us. Which is why the owner doesnt drive it at all. If you boost it it will be quick, but na bp in a mx3 definately wont run quicker than in a 1st gen. I wish i went to th track befor ei swapped so i could have factual info. But the car is not as quick as it was in my protege. A 1st gen pro weighs what 2200lbs?

i seen that babybluemx3, its definately a killer car. but its Built, thats what its gonna take to get a good boosted Kl to me. After what we have been hru with all the non built boosted KL's @ 7psi. **** we even had a RS @ 15psi on the sohc 1.6...lol and that ran like a bat out of hell for a good 3 weeks. put a stock lx next to a stock gs with a bp and see what happens.. gurantee the pro will take it. I put GS b/c it has rear disc brakes and all options as well as the Lx

He also took the car and got it weighed with the Bp and the zE in it. but i forgot the exact numbers. ill ask him tommorow.

first of all that is the stupidest thing to swap a bp in a GS. It is soo much work to go from a v6 to a i4, its just retarded. If you start out with a GS you are best to go the ZE route. If start out with an RS you can swap in the:b6t,bpt,bp, or turbo your existing motor. My RS with my bp was around 2250lbs and i raced other cars peppier than your protege lx and i beat them. The reason you probably won is because the weight difference between the GS and the RS. A first gen protege weighs about 2650lbs buddy, not 2200 unless you strip it down to bare necessity with maybe some cut out supports. With my bp mx-3 with just a blaster 2 coil and k&n air filter i had to be in the low 15's. But for you to say that you can beat a mx-3 with a bp, a car with the same power as yours but about 3 to 4 hundred pounds lighter and better aerodynamics with a lower coefficient of drag, then its kinda obvious which car would win. Peace
