first late night drag (PIR) w/ turbo

    escort LXE-T

    R/T________.199
    60' ________2.522
    1/8 ________9.766
    mph (1/ __78.06
    1000 ______12.492
    1/4 _______14.787
    mph (1/4) __98.26

this was my 4th and final run of the night... my first run was a 15.07* then my second was a 15.02* neither of which i burnt out... then i decided that because the ground was still wet in the staging lanes that i would burn em a little just to dry them up and clean them off... so i didnt power break i just popped the clutch and rode it out till they started to grab a bit... then gave them another little spin when i got the final line up ok.

my next 2 runs were 14.97* (i missed third, i have video of this race but have NO idea how to get it up ) it sucks because my 60' on that race i got 2.3** and my final run of 14.787 i got 2.522.

so all in all im happy i didnt really stop to add up everything i had against me...
    me - 280lbs (probably about 290 now )
    stereo - 50lbs
spair tire jack and tools - 50 (heavy aftermarket wheel)
heavy 18lbs a piece enkie wheels (without rubber)

so im running about 200 more pounds than alot of guys run to get the low 14s... but on top of that my trap speed of 98.26 is very promising is it not? but even on top of that if i pulled my 2.3 60' again that would be a 14.5 right there with all that against me.

ALSO keeping in mind these are the first 4 runs i have run in about a year and a half ... im going back next weekend

Your MPH makes me thing you have more potential than a 14.7, sounds like a traction problem, and also next time leave all of your heavy **** at home or outside of the car (100lbs= 1/10th as the old addage goes).

yeah i wanted to get it all ready to race... my spair tire i have on a 15" supreme (5 spoke wheel) and i have another at home (somewhere) with some just about new hancook ventus 205 50 15's (the other 2 are in wheel heaven... stupid curbs jumping out in the middle of roads )

ultimately i wanted to get my subs out, put my 15s on the front... and also get rid of the loose extra weight, rear seats, jack.... but i just decided at least for that night i wanted to see what i did every day im my street trim... when i go back ill be a little lighter with my other wheels on.

and yes i did have some traction problems they spin at about 3500 in first then 2nd would just roast even when i let off (when i didnt burn out)... then when i burnt out they would spin at about 3500 in first and 2nd would break loose for a second or 2 but would grab shortly there after... i noticed when i didnt burn out i would spin one tire going down the track which is why i would roast second because all my power was going to one wheel... but when i burnt out they both tended to grab. i also bogged at the launch on that run...

            So here is an Update:

Traction problems strike again!!! Someone is still in the 14's cause Traction is teh issue. So after some tips on driving a FWD car, hopefully he can dip into the high 13's.

Just need good tires. I picked up a set of (used for 4 runs) Nitto 555 Drag Radials for $100 already mounted. Those will pull nicely

                  ohh hell yea.

When I ran my 14.9 I was using BFGoodrich drag TA's and they were a NIGHT and day difference, even on my lowly NA protege.

taking out your back seat is only gonna save you like 5 pounds or so. but if you are really wanting to try and get a better time, every little pound counts. there are lots of things that you don't need to run down the track. things that you can take out or off at the track to help with weight, and then put them back in before you leave.

looks like some nice times to begin with. i hope to come over to portland/corvallis area and hit up PIR some time this summer.

I've decided that my car is a girl, she's picky as hell, won't listen to me, always wants to fight me, and when i give her presents it's never good enough and she always wants more.

best time i could achieve was a 14.5, traction issues up the wazoo.
                      1st gear, roasted, 2nd gear-roasted until 6k causght then pulled from 5kto 6.5k
                      shift to third.

                          Problem Solving Plan B

And definitely jump on a diet dude.

290 pounds!!!! DAmn, you sure are a big guy.

Do the sacrifice to make improve your quarter mile times and also for your health.

The second option is a few extra pounds of boost or a lightened FW to compensate for the extra weight.

i have a lightened (stock) flywheel... and im 6'5" tall... so yes im still a big guy but its not like i cannot see my manhood by looking straigh down (given i could still be a perdy big guy and still see my manhood )

i will never be able to knock off enough to make a huge difference... a comefortable weight for someone my height is like 210-220 (if i remember correctly) so i wouldnt technically even drop .1 seconds off my time by dropping till i was fit.

and im looking into an hks electronic boost controller (thanks craigslist) the guy is out of town till monday then he said its mine if i want it for 150 so im going to jump on that...

i have a dyno appt this comming friday, but before i can take it in i HAVE to port my wastegate... i pulled from 2k in 4th today to see how bad it would creep on the dyno and i hit 15psi before i let off (na bp motor, turbocharged, with nothing but a bp26 ecu for managment, my 255lph fuel pump burnt out so i have a stocker in and im running no piggyback so not even my ecu can send enough fuel). so hopefully ill be able to solve that problem before friday.
