Darryl, if 215s would rub and 205s fit on a 6.5" wheel, what's the advantage of goign with a wider rim? I mean obviously if the car could take wider rubber it would make sense, but if not it doesn't make much sense.
I'm not being a jerk, I just didn't know if there was a difference I may not be thinking of.
Just as 95ProLeila said, the width of the wheel will influence the width of the tire. A given tire mounted on a narrow rim is "less wide" than the same tire mounted on a wider rim. Since wheels are made in .5" widths, the industry rule of thumb is that for every .5" change in wheel width there will be a corresponding .2" change in section width.
