    will these tires fit?

    Hey everyone!

I think I'm going to be getting a 323 for circle track racing, and was wondering if 205/60R13 tires would fit in front without rubbing? (I'll be using OEM steelies) I searched, but couldn't find anything. I don't mind if I will have to cut my fenders for them to fit, I'm worried about the wheelwells.

Does anybody know if they will?

I don't see why they wouldn't. I've run 205/50/15 hoosiers on my 323, with a 15mm spacer in the back because of the wheel offset (42mm) and there's no rubbing, didn't even roll the fenders. Bone Stock suspension, too, shot struts and all.

stock tire is 185/65-14, which happens to have a nominal size of exactly the same diameter, and barely a wee bit wider, maybe an inch total.

I wouldn't really worry about rubbing, but the 13" steelies are skinny-minnie 5-inchers, putting a 205 on them's going to give you a LOT of roll.

Unless you use some Spec Racer Ford slicks (22.0x7.0x13), which are meant to go on skinny rims. 3.5" front, and 5.5" rear is what the SRF cars run, I believe. I've run them on 13x8's on my RWD Corolla. Bias ply tire, they worked really good, although the stretch made the sidewalls just a hair too stiff for my preference.

You know, I should mount a couple of them up on my 323 rims just for ****s and giggles.

Are you constrained by any rules as to what brand/type of tires you use?

How much rolling of the sidewalls are we talking about? Enough to affect the tire's durability and the car's handling? I need the tires to last for at least 150 laps on a 1/4 mile track. Would I be better running a different size to cut down on sidewall flex? I need the hight to stay they same as the 205/60R13's.

Yes, there are tire rules. "Must be passenger car tires, no 'trick' gumball racing tires or slicks, no bias ply tires, no recaps, no r compund tires. Must be 70 series or greater, and MUST be mounted on OEM steel wheels, no aftermarket steel wheels and no Aftermarket OR OEM aluminum rims. Rims MUST be no larger than 15" diameter, and no wider than 6"! No spacers."

I can run anything I want after the race begins because they never check after that, but I don't want to cheat to bad, lol! I'll only cheat on the tire's series, but nothing else. And I REFUSE to run spacers,as they put to much strain on the stock studs. I don't want them to break and roll over again, lol! Once is enough for me!

And if I seem a little touchy in my response, I don't mean to be. I'm just thinking of alot of stuff right now.....

185/70 is a bit to tall. (.5 inches taller than 205/60) And I only run dirt tracks once a year. The rest of the year I run asphalt.
