my escort weighed 2500 pounds with me in it.... i weigh 180, meaning it weighs 2320 pounds.

thats with approximately a half tank of gas, and the spare, back seat, and jack removed. also my a/c and power steering is gone... but i think the turbo, intercooler, larger capacity radiator, and 3" exhaust probably comes close to cancelling that out weight-wise.

the wheel base on the 323 is a couple inches shorter, so unless mazda used thicker sheet metal... i'd think 22xx pounds is perfectly reasonable.

I dropped the gearbox today (the clutch disc was smoked) and after I put a new disc in there I'll smog it, and then I'll do the ZE swap.

At the same time I'm dropping in an MX3 front subframe with the swaybar, and I'll start with Jamex springs to bring the height down. I also have the MX3 rear subframe with a brake disc conversrion to finish the 4-wheel disc upgrade.

Upfront, I might use an MX6/Probe radiator (longer than the 323 but not as tall, which means I might be able to sneak it under the upper rad. support and I can use headers). If it works, Bosal headers await. Gonna use 2 1/4 exhaust piping with a Magnaflow muffler (stealth mode, I don't like blinged mufflers - just personal preference). For the IM, I have a '98 Millenia curved neck unit that should clear the brake fluid reservoir and flow almost as good as the straight neck ZE.

For the first couple of months I'll keep the body stock, just to enjoy the sleeper status - the paint is actually really good, but there are the usual assortment of annoying dings that might pull out with a paintless dent repair service.

Have you thought about doing a 5 lug conversion? I'd look to see how easy or difficult it would be to put your PGT's calipers on it. Just a thought.....

the probe radiator fits just fine in the escorts, not sure of the 323s.I had to hack out some of the headlight bucket on the passenger side but still retained all stock fasteners and appearance. Its nice to see anothe v6 guy surfacing.Im also on probetalk, but im still stuck on the f2t cars for now.Good luck, if you need any help hit me up.Ive been helping a few otehr guys on here with their questions.

does the straight neck ZE manifold really not clear the brake resevoir on the 323?

if not my buddy is gonna have to run back to the junkyard... i think they had a few millenias there...

the straight neck puts the tb right on top of the master reservior.Youd have to modify the location of the resevior to make it fit.Iirc, the curved neck and straight neck dont offer that diff of performance but i could be wrong. If you have a tig welder, you could probably modify the neck to create the angle and snake around the resevior, but who knows.
