    1993 EGT Stalls

    I am the original owner of a 93 Escort GT that has had a stalling problem since about 1994. I have been living with it for a long time and have not been able to get any help from Ford or any one. It happens when I am decelerating and the rpm goes bellow 2000 and I push the clutch in. It is very sporadic, it might do it twice in a day then not happen again for a couple of weeks. It sounds like a relay or or a circuit trips when it happens. I can let the clutch out or turn the key and it restarts with no problem. Also I am about to replace the water pump does any one have any thing to add that the Ford shop manual does not say to do?

    not sure if this helps but i owned a 91 escort gt for about 2 years 40k miles. i too had a problem with the engine cutting out every so often when coming out of gear with the clutch in. not a big deal but can really mess you up in a high speed turn when you suddenly have no power steering...

    anyways the problem seemed to have solved it self when i changed out the battery cables. i'm not sure if this is the same problem you are having since you owned it since new and it started so soon, but if I were you i'd start at the terminals.
