    new bg protege dood.

    i'm from eastern ontario canada.

just picked up a clean little bg protege to keep around as a cheap daily/backup car. 98,000kms from a little old lady. super fresh.

just did springs and cheap wheels (rotas with volk stickers), shopping my partslist for a jdm KLZE swap at the moment, the auto 1.8 just doesn't cut it.

hopefully this forum will be helpful.

Yeah you've got the DX, its the SOHC b8. The little brother to the DOHC BP. There are lots of modifications that you can do to your car if you search around some.

Hey there fellow Canck .. welcome to the club ....

Question for ya. What size are the Rotas your running ? offset spacing and tires that you have mounted on them ?

Oh and what where the springs ? I like the stance you have acheived with that combo.

I'm feeling the rebadged rota's. They look like volk wheels.

i call it a BG based on the vin (chassis code), the model designation is "S" it's not an LX, i have an LX parts car, and the only difference was the manual trans.

the springs are ebay sprint springs. they're still fresh and they'll sag in over the next week. i want the height for Ottawa roads, we have crap roads and i like hitting cottage country without worrying about oilpan contact. my last car was a slammed 180sx with full powered by max suspension so this is more like a rally setup to me.

the rotas are grid offroad 16x8 +20 with 205/45 Dunlop DZ101. I took out the rear inner fender lips and lightly rolled the front fenders to make way for travel, they never rub as it sits in the pic, and also doesn't rub during full lock. grips like a mofo too, once i get a healthy KLZE and better brakes i'll be hitting up shannonville msp for lapping.

i really don't plan on doing anything to the current drivetrain besides pulling it and storing it, i've got a manual protege for manual parts (pedals/shifter etc) and i'm going to pick up a cheap junky mx6 for the trans and wiring/ecu. I expect all i need from the mx3 really is the motor mounts and driveshafts? (i'd just order them new) i can fabricate anything else unless the crossmember is really different for klze, otherwise rusty mx3 parts cars aren't hard to find for dollars. then i'll pick up a clean little imported jdm klze from a local engine place, they have one in stock right now.

probably going to gather all the parts together over the next few weeks/months and have the whole drivetrain ready to drop in on the shop floor, then put it in over a weekend and do the exhaust/fuel/stuff and drive it the next monday.

I think someone posted recently that the MX3 and Probe gearboxes have closer ratios than the MX6.

EDIT: Here it is. Car looks great by the way.

They don't list +20 offset for those wheels on the rota website, only +10. Where did you get them from?

i bought the wheels just 2 weeks ago from an ebay seller named wheelbay. they come in a few different colours in the +20 16x8 4x100, black, white, and silver center with polished lip, i wanted full silver but they said they don't have it, just make sure you're getting the grid "offroad" version or you get the flat grids instead.
