Just got a clean '88 323. In Missouri.

Well, my name is Ryan, and I am the proud new owner of a very clean, for an '88, 323.

My version is the standard FWD, 5SPD, 1.6l.

    Paid $650 for it.

I got tons of questions about this car and the variants of it, like the AWD and Turbo models.

I guess that sums it up. If your around STL, Missouri, hit me up.

Welcome! Good pickup. You will like it.

What are your plans with the car? DD, fun weekend car, etc..?

As far as motor swaps, cant go wrong with a B6T or BP swap.

Thanks! I do like it already, but as with any car, it does need a bit of modifications.

I don't plan on doing a motor swap because I don't have the place to do one. I was thinking maybe small bolt on turbo if possible. Well, if the miata 1.6l motors exhaust manifold is compatible.

Other than that, some pretty wheels, small drop, maybe a mild looking kit. It is my DD, so mainly anything for looks.

I have been looking for compatible bumpers like the with the white car on the main forum page. There's not much info for the lower class SE model.

If you want that B6 to last, do not boost it. They dont have very strong internals. Yeah it can be done, but most likely your reliability will be out the window. With B6T internals, thats a different story. Since you said you dont have a place to swap motors, then you probably wouldnt be able to swap internals either.

An easy bumper swap would be the Isuzu I-mark RS bumper. Its what I have on my car in sig. Just needs a little trimming on the inside and you're good to go.

Thanks. I do plan to lower it, but only about an inch, wheels and tires will fill the wells. I'm just gonna look for a mild bodykit for a crx or whatever and fit it.

I wouldn't expect the stock internals of the motor to hold much boost, just thought maybe 8psi would be OK and it would be a chance for me to get familiar with turbo setups. Never had a turbo vehicle.

you'd have to make a custom exhaust manifold tho, unfortunately the DOHC manifolds will not bolt to the SOHC heads.

I have access to a SOHC tubular exhaust manifold at a local auto wreckers, I can send you the flange if you want?? would make fabricating a manifold a walk in the park.

also, not sure about said crx kit would definitely need to post some idea pictures

Thanks for the offer, but it will be a while before I get to the engine work.

I'm not saying for sure that I'll use a crx kit. I've seen s10 lower valances on 323s, so I may go that route. There are even kits for the I mark that I've been looking into.

BTW, DeeAOne, your car looks great. That pic in you sig really makes me want to not go too crazy with the body work.

                  Thanks.

Years ago I ran one of those S10 lips for maybe 2 weeks. I couldnt keep it on the car at my height though, so I ended up getting a smaller one. Its a nice lip, but you can't also have the car slammed.
