    Squealing belts

I cannot find the answer to the squealing belts on my 1997 Mazda Protoge. I had new belts put on but they still squeal. What's the answer?

Not enough tension, bent pulley, and partially seized alternator bearing come to mind.

I'm going to put on a new alternator since it is going out. I've searched online and people putting on new alternators didn't solve the problem though.

        likely more tension is needed.
an old trick is to run a bar of soap on the contact surface of the belt.
it serves to multipurpose. both cleaning & aiding in traction.
