    New BG owner from Vancouver!

    Hello everyone!

    I just bought a 1991 Protege GT, 5 speed.

Needs a little bit of cleaning but it seems mechanically sound! I bought this thinking this might be a base for a rally machine, but I might need to save up some more first. Until then, I will just use this as a daily drive. My other vehicle just consumes way too much gas.

              Thank you everyone!

Crazy Canadian, I am in Coquitlam! Do you have anything done to your Mazda?

I'm browsing the forums trying to see what I can do or mod, but for some reason I am only seeing very few posts per page. Odd...

I think the first order of business is the cracked windshield and an oil change. And the previous owner put on some awful tires! I am going autocrossing this Saturday. It should bring out thr understeer to the nth degree.

Running with VCMC for their spring warm up half pad event?

Hope it goes well. I have a 323 that is pretty well known in the local autocross clubs. when it comes to 323s there isn't much I haven't done when it comes to modifications

Yep! Just did that. And as I sort of thought, the tires were terrible but all else seem well.

I wonder what cat-back exhaust systems might fit a BG? I am starting to see why people say it's hard to find parts - can't find anything on them!

How'd the event go? I'll probably be out for the first autocross cup event. I am pondering the UBC event this Sunday.

When it comes to parts you won't find much you can buy and bolt on like a Honda. There is a lot you can do with the car and there are a few of us proving it can be successful in grassroots racing. I hand built the exhaust systems on my cars.

Welcome. I am just over the border in Washington. Yeah, not a lot off the shelf anymore but the parts are still around. As I recall the biggest producers of cat back systems were pacesetter and corksport. The pacesetter wasn't that great, the corksport setup I had looked nice but I got rid of the car before getting it put on. Just keep your eyes out or post a wtb ad. Also, you are going to have to search to see all the old threads. the pages dont show thread older than 30 days or something like that.

Wow ... I thought all the GT's were gone. Nice find !

I had a clean 1993 Gt which I sold to a CP member out in Surrey.

Great to see another BG in the lower mainland

Thanks guys! Especially the point about the forum posts, thought I was missing something...

So at the first autocross event with the PGT, I notice the car doesn't want to rev high. In 2nd gear, it struggles to go past 5.5k rpm, and sits at 4k for 3rd, 4th and 5th regardless of whether of I'm at WOT.

I went to Chilliwack to pick up some used wheels, and on the drive back I notive I need to keep it floored to stay at 110km/h on 5th. I'm suspecting either air flow or fuel. I'll do some air filter cleaning (previous owner installed a K&N drop in) and see how it goes. Or it can be a plugged cat?

Plugged cat is possible. Would need to test for it
