Hey! New Member from Washington State

Hey everyone! ive been searching minor threads via not having any luck for in depth information via performance part information, i just purchased a 1990 323/323 protege AWD with 106k miles, ive had her for about 2 weeks, so far ive done complete fluid swap "engine, brakes, A/T, coolant" and i just finished replacing both left and right CV axle's, next is shocks/struts, then i would like to finish up with a full exhaust "headers back", CAI, etc etc. Before this mazda i owned 2 1990 MX 5 miata's, i look forward to learning more about this car with fellow members, Thanks again!

Nice. welcome. Where'd you pick up the awd from?

There is a kick @$$ handfull of folks up here. And I'm quite confident we have the majority of the AWD models left in the country right here in the NW.

People who race cars of any kind think motorcycle racers are absolutely off theirs meds. But there's one group that everyone agrees is made up of the most extreme, the most daring, and absolutely craziest people in racing - rally racers."

I picked it up off of another army vet that i met through here in the Spokane WA Area, ill be taking pictures tomarrow in the AM, ive been scouring the forums for specific topics all day, leading into more questions thus more research, i have to say the information here is valuable bar none, i still have more reading and "threading" left to do though.

Welcome. Post some pics or start a worklog. Does yours still have a working A/T?

Yes it does, The A/T works just fine, although now i'm looking at options via cost/options of either having the M/T on hand for the swap "When" this A/T goes out, or my options for buying a whole new A/T as is, now what i'm running into is there is hardly anything i can do to this 1.8 SOHC, mere header options are like... NONE, so as of today i'm going to look at my options for swapping a 1.8 DOHC in when the time comes, "what both my miata's had", but at that point, do i do a 1.8 dohc swap first, then worry about the A/T? unfortunately alot of threads run off without any come back on project completion. but it's a definite fun way to kill time.

I bought a GT-X front cut back in 2006 when they were a bit cheaper than they are now. Swapped the engine, transmission, shifter, linkage all at once. Nice and easy. Of course, my car came with a blown headgasket and a badly slipping A/T.
