I’ve never been a Mazda guy outside of the rx7 and the old Miata we used to have in the family. Came up on a steal from a coworker, and bought a 178k mile 2000 Mazda protege 5speed after I got in a pretty bad wreck and my old car got totaled (Lexus). Used it as a parts hauler and a daily for a while, while contemplating if I wanted to mod...7-8 months after driving it constantly I came across a non running MSP, talked the guy down from his already low asking price of $800 to $350.
Took the front end off, the turbo and manifold, Mazdaspeed muffler, wing, side skirts rear lip, FMIC kit and a bunch of other aftermarket pieces. Unfortunately didn’t have the time to get the ecu or the racing beat stuff.
My plan is to convert to a msp without the 5 lug, and try to aim for 2300 pounds and 275hp. I have my eye on the TTCR rigidity kit or the CUSCO kit since this thing is excellent with turns I want to see how much crazier it can get.
