    Hi Guys/Gals

This would be my first ever forum to join. I am 23 and have been given a 1997 Mazda Protege ES. Previous owner didn't change out the thermostat and possibly warped the head. I am rebuilding it just for fun and any advice would be great. I Look forward in discussing with yall!

Welcome! That's a rare one you've got there. Plenty of meat on BP heads, so don't be afraid to shave it right down.

I hope it's just a blown head gasket and there was no damage to the head.

I did read that its "rare" but without context. I was thinking on selling it to a junker but idk yet.

Very few BHAs got BPs. Almost all had the Z5. As I understand it, anyway.
