i have a problem with domestics in general.i have not had one good experiance with a car that was built in the good ol' USA. they are unreliable hunks of plastic. take ford for instance. in europe, ford's cars are rock solid reliable. but they have a guy here in the USA, and his job is to cut corners to save them some money. people always bitch about how americans should buy american made cars. well ****, if they were reliable, i would

I have to agree with you on this one. I wouldnt trust a ford car but a ford truck is a different story. I have a 79 f250 with a 302 in it that we have beating as hard as we can and it still works great

ford has made some bad apples.. the sable and the taurus up until the last few years were pieces of crap. don't get me wrong, my 94 has 168,000 miiles on it.. but this thing is on it's second transmission, the idler pulley bent, the alternator went, the steering rack was replaced, the suspension is shot, the paint is decent, the oil pan gasket went, one of the window motors has gone bad, the driver's electronic controls are slow as hell, the interior is falling apart. i can't afford to repair this piece of **** anymore. it runs like ****, the gas mileage sucks.. and the vehicle is only 10 years old. my friends have had problems with their fords.. ranging from the escort (non-bp escorts), contours, mystiques, taurus. it has nothing to do with the parts honestly.. because most ford parts are made over seas (canada, australia, japan, germany, and mexico), i just don't think ford is capable of engineering a passenger car that well anymore. i mean think of it this way, honda, toyota, and mitsubishi assemble cars in the united states just like ford and GM.. but obviously in most respects, the import brands fair out better reliability wise. kevin

because ford makes their cars out of materials that are of lesser quality

exactly. I worked for UPS for 6 months last year. Everyday I saw probably a couple hundred different engine parts come through (ac comp, alternator, PS pump, etc)

Everyone that came through, I mean EVERY ford part had oil and/or other fluild leaking on the box and we had to repack it b/c of the leaking fluid. GM, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Honda parts all came through and maybe 1 out of 100 had a box with some oil on it. I saw this everyday for 6 months or so.

Isn't the 302 really slow?? heh.

I'd like an econoline van, still can tow stuff, but it's more practical for regular uses.

i've worked the past month in a motorcraft (ford) and delco warehouse.. we stock everything under the sun.. anywhere from pullies, to alternators, steering gears, steering racks, alternators, starters, brake pads, rotors, switches, harnesses, filters, water pumps, hoses, clamps, computers, bedliners, rims, bug shields, radiators, a/c accumulators, compressors, batteries, calipers.. out of every part in that warehouse, the steering racks are the only one's that leak any bit of oil. and even at that, you might say they use ****ty parts, but the fact you have to keep in mind, most of the regular use/normal wear items on a ford vehicle aren't even made in the united states. ford actually contracts out for alot of their parts to slap their name on the box..you'll notice any genuine OEM ford part says "Designed, Engineered, and Recommended by Ford Motor Co." i reiterate, japan, germany, australia, mexico, canada, china.. alot of ford parts are made over seas..its not the ****ty parts, it's the ****ty engineering into the design of the parts. but thats just my opinion.

but a ****ty designed part is still a ****ty part. Not all fords are that bad. My friend has a ranger that has seen way better days, and he probably abuses the **** out of it.... yet it keeps on going.
