Okay guys.... I am interested in starting my new project. I still have a ton going on as my wife is undergoing chemo and my aunt (who I am DPOA for) had a stroke and I now have her under hospice care, but I want to organize one day to get four or five guys with tools over to my house to do the big swapping. I want to swap the motor, tranny, ECU, wiring harness, power brakes, power steering, A/C (the new car doesn't have power steering nor power brakes nor A/C), all four disc brakes, suspension and maybe some interior pieces, but mainly the big stuff where having lots of hands will be helpful. I don't expect to get anywhere near being able to start the motor much less run the car. I just want to get to the point where I can do the smaller things. I am hoping to do this on a Saturday in August. Let me know if there is a possibility of anybody coming over. I'll try contacting some of you guys personally, but I'm hoping that maybe some of you can contact people that I have lost contact with like Danny (and Danny). I am sure that Matt is out now that he is a daddy. That's cool. Let me know!!!!

Looking forward to starting my new project car this year. Retirement has been anything but slow, quiet and/or boring. Lots of highs.... lots of lows. Medical issues in the family has us constantly going to doctor's appointments and I am doing the lion's share of everything around the house. Not complaining. Just saying that I am busy with very little help and extra responsibilities. My aunt who I was DPOA for and cared for for the past 7 years because her do nothing bio daughter chose to be absent from this duty and process just passed away at the end of December. Whil I am sad I am also relieved for her as there was no quality of life left and she is no longer suffering. My duties of dealing with her care are almost over. That's a load off my plate. Let's hope 2018 brings great stuff like a cool new finished project car!
BTW, I must have got purged from the system since I noticed that this is only being counted as like my 5th posting even though I have been on this forum for YEARS and have a thread with almost 45,000 views. Hmmmmmm..... ooooh... post numbers have changed. How did that happen? Weird. Nothing is ever easy anymore. LOL.

Today is the first truly dry day in.... I can't remember how long. While the weather reports say we haven't had a lot of rain, I haven't felt like I could comfortably do much on my project(s) until today. Having said that, I am at the point (as the weather hopefully gets better) to organizing a big work party. I wish to strip my 323GT of as many parts as possible before dragging the carcass to the scrapyard. I hope to use a lot of parts, but I know that there will be parts that I won't be using, so....
If you live in Washington or Oregon and might be interested in having some fun wrenching on a couple of 323s and maybe score on some free parts in trade for wrenching, hit me up. For example, my new 323 is a 2-dr hatch. Therefore, I won't be using the door panels from my GT. I don't plan on using the power windows, the side glasses that are tinted, the Kenwood stereo (I want the speakers), and some other parts. I may have an extra set of rims that I will let go of (Mazda RX-7 14" phone dial wheels) that currently have my studded snow tires on them. I want to keep my studded snow tires for now. I will be getting rid of the tail lights (one might be slightly cracked be usable). The rubber seal around the trunk lid is in really good shape and so on. I will be happy to get rid of the rear bumper, entire doors, glass sunroof (from an Escort) and I might even have the power (electric motors and control panel for the sunroof somewhere in my garage. I wish to let go of the B6 and tranny (5-speed) from the hatch as well as the brakes, stock suspension radiator and more as I strip it down to make room for the parts from the GT.
I will have a complete interior from the hatch that I plan on getting rid of since it is dark blue and I wish to convert it to having as much of the GT interior as possible, so there will be some hatchback interior parts. Luke, Mike M, Kyle, Mike N, Danny (if you're still around here), and anybody else.... Please PM me when you get a chance.
I will buy lunch for everybody and sodas plus a few beers at the end of the day. Let's do this!
