side note, i was at the junkyard this morning. and saw a festiva. was messing around with a friend. and i can lift the ass end of a festiva, and turn it half way around!

i never had an idea the festiva's ass end didnt weigh anything. it was hilarious. def something everyone needs to try at least once!

In highschool some friends did that to me as a prank, turned my festiva sideways between two other cars lol

Since it was a really nice day today i spent a few hours on the car, i wanted to see if i could re-use my tranny mounts on the probe tranny and i only installed the rear mount and it works, i still need to try out the front mount but the slave cylinder will bolt in that area so i may have to make a new front mount. i wanted to basically test fit the tranny with the axles installed, see how the shifter linkage lined up, speedo cable etc. while i had it in the engine bay and here's pics

And a quick video of me turning the tranny over by hand (its a little dark though), and everything seems to be working the way it should

The speedo cable dropped in like it belongs there

The solid bar of the shifter linkage will need to be modified a little bit, but the other one works just fine

Once i took the tranny back out i decided to do some clean up, so first i pulled the B6T wiring harness out and any un-necessary brackets etc. then the crossmember (which had tons of crap built up on it) There's quite a few scratches in the engine bay from engines being pulled in and out over the years so i'll probably give it a quick paint job under the hood before i install the engie for the last time. i'm not quite done cleaning things up but i got a good start on it

Good job, looks spanking clean, now you can even eat on that engine bay, lol!

          Great thread!

          FYI:

Have you thought about putting new transmission seals, the ones were the axle attaches to the tranny...

On my swap like a few months after it started leaking, although not that difficult I regreted they were not installed right then. Each transmission seal costs around 5 to 7 dollars, at least on Auto Zone.

Thanks!! And actually i keep meaning to pick up a set of axle seals and change them while everything is apart, cause my luck is they'll leak once its all re-assembled, so yes i'll be changing them

It does look a ton better but i'm still not happy with some spots, if you look close on top of the strut towers you'll still see some dirt, so i'll be going over it again

My crossmember was already modified with custom tranny mounts for my B6T/G25MR, i was able to re-use the custom mount i already have since the V6 tranny and my B6T tranny are both G-series and the bolt holes lined up

You'll need to make custom mounts for your swap, mine have just already been done

Is there anyway you can get some good pic's of your mounts so i can have a good source?

also, how did you convert your trans to a mechanical speedo cable?

The crossmember in a BF 323 is longer then the one in my festiva, so i don't think a picture of the mounts would make any difference to you

And i didn't do anything to convert it to a mechanical speedo, the cable just fit in the trans the way it is

The part that goes in the tranny is a G-series speedo cable that would be used in the Escort GT trans, my 323 GT tranny/Capri XR2 tranny etc.

Well i got the KLDE home today, its not pretty but its perfect for mock up plus it was free so i can't complain, and i have tomorrow off work to spend the day test fitting the engine!! I did some quick measuring and it looks like the engine is just barely going to be able to get in the engine bay, its going to be very tight but i'll make it work!!
