the sensor closer to the oil filter is your oil pressure switch and the one higher up and closer to the transmission side is your knock sensor

Well finally some real progress. Saturday night I got the motor and tranny hanging in the engine bay by their own mounts rather than the hoist. Its all downhill from here as I button it all back up.

Question: There is a wire with a ring connector on it hanging in the driver side engine bay that is part of the harness. Is this just a chassis ground that bolts to the frame rail? Its not really long enough to go anywhere else but its been nearly 4 months since I took all this apart so i'm struggling to remember how it went together and the FSM takes forever to leaf through. I'll try and get a picture if my verbal description is too vague.

Another Question: Does anyone have an extra coolant temp sender laying around they'd sell me? I ordered one from rock auto but the one I received is too small, i'm guessing its meant for the BP motor or something. Doesn't thread into the head at all, way too small. I accidentally broke the original.

Well the car is back together and is running pretty well. It takes some work to get it to start. I suspect old gas, old fuel filter, old injectors, etc. We'll see how that pans out.

The front axles are shot. Bob martin has a replacement set on its way to me.

Rather than bore you with more pictures of a car you've seen a million times I figured i'd just post up a teaser of what came in the mail today:

Just stock springs for now, thinking of ground controls later. One of the fronts is leaking unfortunately but thats how I managed to snag the set for so cheap! What inserts work well in the front dirtra housings?

They are regular (non automatic) miata pistons.

Yes it was a seriously lucky find. The guy wasn't originally going to sell them but I talked him into it. I'm really glad to not have to worry about finding dampers for this car anymore. I mean, I need to replace the inserts up front (going with bilstein HDs) but thats easy compared to having to track down more dirtras.

Do yours have a gland nut? or are you gonna have to modify them for the new inserts?

I'm no expert, but they all appear to have gland nuts on the top of each housing.
