So I just picked up this beautiful 88 GTX. I "saved" it from a guy who was going to turn it into a FWD drag car with 20" DUBZZZ. It has possibly the cleanest chassis I've ever seen in the North East. It's all stock minus the awful window tint, a "kicking stereo", a super annoying alarm system, and some craptastic HIDs. So here she is when i first picked her up:
She ran fairly rough, idled high, had a nasty hesitation cruising, and a tiny bit of wobble in the front pulley. Other than that, and a few little problems here and there, she is in fairly good shape.
So the point of this build is to pack it full of as many modern luxuries as possible without drastically altering the function or form of the car.
Projects completed so far:
- K-night coilovers installed
- Installed a brand new ignition system complete with a full dizzy rebuild.
- new back brakes
- new fuel filter
- new RX7 fuel pump
- started installing new bushings
- window tint and stickers removed
- speedometer fixed with new gear and cables
- new timing belt/waterpump/thermostat/ fix pulley wobble
- finish bushings
projects yet to complete:
- new CV boots all around
- lots of other stuff
