1988 White GTX - #1 parts
1988 Black GTX - #2 reliably broken touge monstar (294,000 miles no rebuilds) - dead 1988 Blue GTX - #3 in progress (view here)
1988 Blue GTX - #4 BPT swapped weekend warrior.
1988 White GTX - #5 Rally car
i have a feeling no one has ever tried this before
but if i had to guess, i'd say it will probably work. check the casting number on the blocks to see if its the same (B6 or whatever it may be).
the B8 sohc and BP dohc blocks are interchangeable... thats why i'm thinking the 1.6 may be as well.

i know the rods will work. almost certain the pistons will work. the head i'm 89% sure won't... i just can't remember. i know it's been tried. can't remember if it wouldn't work or it it'd require a lot of modification.

Head will NOT work. Don't waste your time. You're better off looking for another b6t block. I think one of the early Miata blocks is the same, but not sure.
I remember doing some research on this, if the heads were interchangeable, they would use the same head gasket part number... but they dont. I say no go
head wil interchange with 1.6L dohc miata engine, get a used jdm miata engine, jdm parts importers sell them at really low prices. For the 1.6L sohc engine, it's sure you can't put a dohc head on it while keeping the shoc pistons because they does not have the notches in them to clear the valves of the dohc head. check on the block if there is a plug where the oil feed line for the turbo is.
if you block is toasted assume your pistons are also toasted, the cheapest rebuilt would be to install a complete miata engine and just install your turbocharger on it. the miata engine has a higher CR this will provide more bottom end but reduce the maximum boost the engine will handle.
the b6 block i am not sure on sorry , but the BP Block , pistions internals are all interchangable with 94 protege.. as a matter of fact the head from a 94 protege is better than the head from the BPT it is a lot stronger... but again sorry i couldn't be much help to you
