the issue is the driveline, not the motor.

example.... i'm doing the toyota tranny swap on my escort. if the GTR motor ever blows up.... i'll probably just sell the adapter plate and drop a 3SGTE in there. they are cheap, durable, and .2l more displacement....

(1)Believe me I like to keep parts in the same family, but sometimes its not feesable, not worth it, or just not as much FUN. I didn't commit to using Mazda only stuff. I must of missed that contract.

(2)I did some searching on this type of topic but didn't see anything that directly talks about this swap.

(3)If they have been doing this swap for 5 years, there must be a few cars with the evo setup...Lets see em.

(4)RWD is not as much fun is AWD. (Depends what your doing)


I'm glad to see there are DI-HARD Mazda purist out there. This topic is not to just piss you purist off. I would like to see some constructive critisim and Ideas, thats all.

Hell if you can slap a z06 vette motor in a pro I'd like to see it. I think taking the time to pursue any motor swap and get it going correct deserves respect. Me I'm a die hard mazda guy. I want to keep it 100% mazda((even though I roll escort rims lol). Hell if there was a way to slam a ms3 motor in a 1g I think I'd bust a nut

escorts in the US are different from the UK... the escort GT here is a BP powered BG chassis car. the GTR motor bolts right in... stock mounts, stock tranny, etc etc.

a stock 3sgte with a larger turbo will laugh at 400whp. the GTR motor on the other hand starts to bend rods around there. have you SEEN a 3s rod? they are HUGE!

i live in nz, so i know this (but they called laser) we got the tx3(gt equivlent) and the gtx (4wd mazda gtx equivlent), i was just thinking if u plan to go toyota wouldnt it be easyer to buy a fwd celica and start from there?, also the pistons in them motors are accedent prone.

no, not really... considering i have the escort already and i already upgraded/rebuilt the ENTIRE suspension and everything else on the car...

there is a guy in your country that builts a kit to make the toyota trans essentially a bolt in affair. he even offers a kit to install the complete celica GT4 driveline into.... *Gasp* A GTR! he's even RUINED his own 400whp GTR by installing such a kit *GASP*

basically i'm going to install this with the gtr motor. if the motor ever takes a dump i'll put in a 3SGTE, which will simply require me to fabricate a passenger side engine mount. i have standalone already so running it wouldnt be an issue.

yea im aware of that guy, ive heard through the "grapevine" that hes not that good of a tuner that he makes out to be, hes melted numerous acl & weisco forged pistons using his so called dyno tuning skills, all in all i wouldnt take tuning advice just get the adapter kit and get out lol.

just buy a f**ken evo, when you buy a mazda you commit to the problems itl cause bite the bullet and harden the fk up
