No he kept it 4WD, just used the gearbox out of a 626 4WD from Europe.

ahh, i had no idea there was a 4wd 626.. oh how i would love to have that here in the states.

No it was a 4WD H-Series box, he got it from somewhere in Malaysia, or somewhere out that way. I know it was a bitch to fit and they had to move the whole engine and gearbox to the left so the propshaft was a bit off centre.

No such thing as a 4WD H-series box. Though the 4WD 626 G-series looked very similar, the same bell housing with rubber vents just like a h-type. But there was never a 4wd h-type box. Ask your friend for some pictures of his gearbox.

It could be, he does not have the car any more, swapped for a Toyota Supra. He was the one who said it was a H-Series box.
