    HELP PLEASE! Will a interchange?

I have a 1988 323 b6 sohc 5spd, last night I last my bottom end due to oil pump failure. I'm at the salvage yard and there's only one engine that looks like it may work.

    It's a 1993 mercury Capri automatic 1.6 dohc.

Will the short block interchange 100%

    Please help

    Thanks

Don't think so. The DOHC pistons have different reliefs than the SOHC. But grab the entire engine, ecu, harness, etc and you'll have a nice 20-30hp over the stock motor

Which JY is this? Auto tranny any good? I have a few people interested in one

Doing quick google searches shows the blocks are the same. I thought the pistons would be just higher compression...

      Will they contact the valves?

Like Rocket said..grab all the stuff...your head will not fit that block.

Ok so it looks like my engine is rebuildable. Just needs gaskets, bearings and rings. Two quick questions

Is it true Miata 1.6 pistons and rods will drop right in my 88 sohc 1.6.

Anything I should address while the engine is out?
