    B6t vs bpt

What are the pros and cons of keeping the b6t with 190k miles and has been beat to death in rallies

And what are the pros and cons of going bpt regular bp with turbo not the gtr motor.

After a day at the track my best run was a 10.6 ( driver error on launch) at 73 mph in the 1/8 previous owner claimed it dynod at 195 whp idk about torque. I already have the basic mods. Probe fmic and turbo, 2.5" dp back exhaust, reich racing ecu, runing 16 psi. I'm wanting high 8s to low 9s. I don't know much about these cars other than most people do bp swaps. How hard is it? Is it really worth it? Obviously parts will be easier to get. Bigger motor etc. but if you were in my shoes what would you go with? I doubt this poor motor has a whole lot of life left to it so it's either build it or swap it. It was converted to fwd so I already have the g5mr? Trans. Would it be better to ditch the distributor and go coil packs or is it too complicated? I plan on going to megasquirt soon any way

    Any input is appreciated.

Displacement, man. If n when the engine's gotta come out, replace it with something that has more of it. As swaps, go, it ain't that bad. There is some fab work but there are lots of writeups here and elsewhere.
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

Time for a new car I say, the GTX was never meant to be a drag car and if you actually wanna be competitive then it's not the way to go.

It's already been adultered from AWD to FWD... You're dragging that ass end around constantly. Bring it back to its AWD glory!

          I second trailrider

To answer your question though, a bpt can bring out more potential but unless you add a bigger turbo you won't get 8s.

It's about to have to go back to awd. Finding a clutch cable for a mercury Capri is more challenging than finding than I would have ever imagined. Or I assume that's what he used.

Clutch cable?Does it not use the GT trans?
What kind of shoes are you wearing? Since you have not had the car for long, ask yourself if you want to really want to be with the car for the long run.If so a 1.8 is probably the way to go. What kind of power does a fwd street car need to get into the 8's? I personally have no idea. Maybe a cleaned up 1.6 could be the ticket?Anyhow, have fun!

He swapped in the Capri xr2 trans. Along with axles and subframe there's a thread on here about him doing it. If he used the Capri trans can I use a gt cable? Gt cable is 20 bucks xr2 cable is 80 and it will take a week to get it. But I'm not sure if they use the same trans or not so my only choice is to use an xr2 cable unless someone says otherwise

My brothers Honda runs flat 9s with a stock d16 with a 50 trim turbo and makes 205 at the wheels and he runs mid 8s with slicks. I ran a civic on the street that runs 9.7-9.8 and I slightly pulled on him so if I can launch it right on the track I should be at 9.6-9.7 as it sits

Yes I know but it was import night so it was free and there are no 1/4 mile tracks in my area.

I really do need to know if I should use a gt cable or xr2 cable. Will the ends that attatch be the same? There was a bit of play in the pedal before but I wasn't able to adjust it so I'm not sure if the cable was already stretched or if the gt cable is shorter. I know it's off topic but I don't want to make another thread, and I hate driving my Honda

Then why is there a $60 price difference? Not saying your wrong by any means. I'll order the gt cable first chance I get, I just don't under stand lol

Edit found the part numbers for the centric cables, they're the same.

Back on topic, is there any more mods I can do to help with my times? Besides learning how to launch it. I'm hoping to be able to either rebuild and forge the b6t or swap in a 1.8 before spring, and maybe eventually re convert it to awd again. But for now I just want more power without pushing it to the edge. To give a general idea I'd like to see 250- 300 whp.
