    Cheapie bp swap questions

Trying to figure out how cheaply I can do a bp swap for. Motor just needs to last till winter. Here is where the fun begins, I have a fwd g series trans from a Capri xr2 now, most of them are interchangeable so I would like to keep it for now. I can get a bp out of an escort gt for $200. I was planing on using my gtx rods in the bp to lower compression a bit.

I know I can run the bp off my current ecu, I'm wondering what all I will need. I know there's the obvious fluids timing belt water pump clutch etc. but to actually get the motor in I'm hoping for just the passenger side motor mount only.if I have to custom make one to be able to use my current axles and everything I will. I don't have power steering or ac. My motor is nearing its end and I doubt it will make it till winter.

I have more turbo than what the bp will be able to handle so I'm sure ill have to come up with a tuning solutiOn once I want to push it a bit so towards winter expect some decent numbers from a bp, or of its too expensive a b6t

using the gtx rods wont lower the compression . it's the pistons that differ . rod length's are all the same across the 1.6 gtx 1.8 gtx, gtr, and bp

Weird, I read somewhere it would lower it to 8.2-8.4. But at least it'll have stronger rods, I would like to see around 300 whp, not sure if it will handle it but its going to start out with 10 psi from a gt3076

bp can handle alot with a proper tune. most of the busted piston/ bent rods you see from bp failures are detonation related.
