valve timing

Setting the timing on my newly put in B6T. Got a friend to put on a new timing belt, tentioner kit and water pump. Iv never used a timing light or anything. Getting another friend who is a licenced michanic to set it but he's never worked on a motor like ours. What are the two lines the workshop manual is saying to take off? And any other tips?

okay, New problem. My motor wont warm up to op temperature. Coolant leaves the motor right away on start up and never gets the chance to warm up. Just changed the thermostat. What else could it be?
