Been driving mine since it's been snowy. Started making some loud noises from the left rear suspension last night. Put it on a lift today to find that the upper strut mount is completely rusted apart and free floating.

New one will be in Saturday hopefully. lol

made a downpipe for the gtx project. not the prettiest, but anything is better then the stock p.o.s.

might go fab up a lower control arm brace.. seems like an easy project to tackle.

Pulled it apart. Engine and tranny are out and going to be donated to a Festiva, as the frame is bent beyond repair.

Put the bucket on the dyno and was incredibly disappointed - kept stumbling and misfiring over 5K rpm - tech said it sounded like a blown-out spark - so decreased my gap and bought an MSD coil - we'll see if it helps - $%#$@!!!

Got my BF back together. Got the strut mount Saturday and went to my work. My dad and I pulled the strut off to find that the upper spring perch was likewise rusted away. Ordered one from Mazda yesterday, came in today, on the car tonight. Yay!

Actually, got some work done on the GT today. Vacuumed the interior, cleaned the cone filter, repositioned the oil cooler (higher) so that more of it is exposed to cold air in front, cut another section of the grille to expose the oil cooler even more, topped off the radiator fluid, changed the bezel around gauge cluster to the one that has the cruise control button and labeling, changed the control unit around the steering column to the one that has the button for the cruise control, checked the oil level adjusted the headlights and test-drove it to see if the temp gauges were lower. Yeah.....

Bad thing is that the connector for the wires from the cruise control button at the end of the wiper control arm is not connected to anything. I couldn't find the other end of the connector from anywhere on my car's wiring harness. I need someone who's installed cruise control to tell me what or where to look. I sure hope I don't have to slice a wiring harness in the junkyard in order to add to mine. I thought mine would have it already. Damn......

did some work to the bf project... now that i think about it, i should have started a project thread. anyways, rebuilt both front cv axels and installed them. installed the protege boost/929 MC combo, made my own "circle earth" kinda ground system. redid the whole interior dash setup (relocated the deck, 4wd button, and cubby holes) trimmed rad support for the fmic piping, installed a new upper handbrake cable which is a HUGE pain in the ass when theres a driveshaft and exhaust piping in the way and lots of rust on the cables. today was definetly a garage sunday. only 15 more days like today and the project should be ready to hit the road.

Finding a 323 hatch might be an easier project. Not quite as light as a Festiva (all of about 200 pounds diffierence?) but has better potential for things like bigger, better brake upgrades and such. Although, I too wouldn't mind stuffing my engine in a Festiva. Crap.... wouldn't that piss off a few M5 owners.....
