Well, decided to take the car to the train this morning cause it rarely gets out, looks like I fragged the slave cylinder, barely made it to my parking spot with the car stuck in 2nd and traffic barely moving ahead of me.Not an enjoyable drive to say the least.
A positive thing to share!!! My friend, Mubarak (who is not only an amazing mechanic but just an all-around great guy), helped me to figure out how to stop the trouble I've been having with the "clicking" when starting the 323GT. You know.... I think every GT owner I know has had issues with this. I'm not sure if it's the same with GTX owners because according to the electrical schematic I saw, the wiring is a teeny bit different, but.....
We tested (with an ohm meter) most of the wires, connectors and such to try to figure out why I sometimes have to turn the key 4, 5 or 6+ times in order to start the car. I get the infamous.... "click" and nothing happens.
Well, earlier this month, Mubarak was kind enough to replace my starte which was getting very tired anyway. I thought (hoped in the back of my mind) that by replacing the starter it would also solve the clicking problem. I remember some earlier discussions with some forum members about what we thought was causing it and based on that, I thought that all I had to do was wait until I got a new starter and vwahlaah... problem gone. WRONG!
Even after replacing the starter, it still had the symptom.
Now, it's solved! I'm going to eventually write up a summary and add it to my "project" thread since it is one of the projects I've been meaning to get to on my car. Stay tuned!
We sort of did the same thing.... We added a relay using the lower voltage current (why it's low we couldn't figure out) and hooked it to the battery which in turn provides direct full 12+ volts to the starter.
Happened to me a few times. Seems to happen during rush hour traffic.
Did you see fluid leaking or did you pinch off the line while pressurized to see if the piston sinks back?
Haven't looked yet,got wifey to take me home got some fluid filled it got it home.
I'm thinking its the slave, always give ya trouble with h.d. press.plates, many moons ago had a turbo miata I stacked the diaphram ,that was a great cheap clutch ran a organic disc,it murdered slave cylinders.Good for the left thigh though.
Yeah, my left calf muscle is much more cut than the right, from many years of commuting. I think the PP is around 30 lbs, IIRC. I think that after the second or third slave cyl replacement, I had to make a change.
Now, I'm driving an automatic, bland, soulless car for the commute and giving the leg a rest.
Anyhow, with someone holding The clutch pedal down and the line pinched (rag and vice grips, and some care):
Well went into the garage took a look aroughd and found mx5 slave cyl. rebuid kit ,boot, springand piston(very tight) all fit,Get a load of this front o
