Thats interesting, my GTX came form Canada, and is equipped with the manual crank sunroof. I'm assuming the GT electric motor would be a direct swap in the GTX, correct?

Any BG power sunroof is a direct fit to the BF chassis sunroof. i currently have a 94 protege power sunroof in my gtx using the same 94 power controls which actuly plug right into my BF dome light plug. i didnt even have to do any wiring to get it to work.

The BG moonroof option is a perfect match minus the control panel, which is why you might want the BF GT panel... It's the same gray as the original BF sunroof and there is no spacing issues like you get with the BG panel.

It all comes down to how picky you are... My analness forced me to order the GT panel from Mazda...Heh.

BTW... BG sunroof swap are just about the easiest thing to find in a junkyard. No reason to wait for someone to sell theirs.

Would I need to do the whole moon-roof assy swap? Or would it be possible to just stab the electric motor in, and connect the electrics? I was going to stick with the stock sunrooof metal panel because it's in good condition.
I'm definitely picky, how long ago did you order the panel from Mazda? Wounder if they are still available?

Could you post a pic of your setup?

            Thanks

Someone may have to correct me, but I'm pretty sure you need to swap the whole assembly. You have 2 options (and again, someone may correct me) BG Protege's will have a solid metal sunroof and moon roof's have to be pilfered from BG Escorts. I only have the button panel at the moment and I ordered it from the dealership maybe 4 or 5 months ago. So I don't think there will be any issues of availability... hopefully. I still haven't made my mind up on if I want to go electric moon roof or not, but I figured having the correct parts to do the swap won't hurt and I don't think I would have a problem selling them if I decided not to go that route. We'll see...

There used to be a really good page with information on the swap, but I can't find it anymore. It page was orange/black and showed the build progress for some dudes GTX. If I ever come across it... and I remember... I'll try and post it.

drop the piller plastics, drop the headliner and you will have access to the panel. take the stock sunroof out. bolt in the new one and plug it in and reasemble... its easy and took me about 45 min by myself. i reccemend having a friend to help hold the new one in while you bolt it

Craig..I just tried to get the 323 power panel from Mazda last month and they told me NLA. Let me know if you know any different. BTW, is Terry back in the Gulf?
                      Thanks

That's crappy! Oh well... I think Terry got his button panel from Trevor, who in turn found it in a junk yard. So if I find one up here, I'll let you know... I tend to have good luck with finding the odd 323 part. Blows me away, all the weird little different models and options they had.

And... I believe he just went back out to sea, like maybe yesterday. I can have him call you if I talk to him...

I peered out from the castle window and looked over the splendor of ROTM county. Yes, twas' a much simpler time back then. Peasants would go about their postings, and I, the mod, would rule over them with an iron fist.

As far as the rear end conversion goes, I have everything except the license plate mount that would go behind that open space. At the same time, working up that mount/bracket wouldn't be a very difficult thing... The only thing that you don't see there that I have is the metal bumper mounts, there isn't any kind of fiberglass crash bar behind it like you would find in US models. I picked it up from Corksport a few years ago (I can't believe it's been that long)... but I also know it was their last one.

Once I get off my lazy ass and hunt down a regular JDM GTX rear bumper, I'm going to sell this stuff.

And uh... I'm gonna have to decline your offer on the side skirts, sorry. :p
