I still need a ride from you Kyle! Someday I'll spend more than 2 days in Portland so I can collect on that.
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

1/4 mile drag with BP DOHC engine:

        Reaction: 0,5771 (not so bad)
60 ft: 2,472 (good for conditions what was)
ET: 16,2411 (but was heavy wind from front and custom intake was just compleated in nigt and setings was worst than bad )

I am not familiar with the different brands or manufacturers of struts for coil-overs for our cars, but I will try to do some research. I am not even sure which brand I have. I know that the springs are Eibach. My struts seem to be "average" which is fine for me since I am not looking for racing "stiffness" and having my car beat to death.

After a quick search on the web, I think I figured out that the coil-overs are apparently designed to use the normal strut already made for the vehicle. Funny, I thought a special strut had to be used. This is good news if I'm accurate. ONe set of coil-over springs is made to handle the Tokiko struts while another set of coil-overs is designed to use the stock strut or KYBs. I think this is the one I have since the coil-overs are NOT for the GTX (same as mine).

Larry it sounds like the o-rings that keep the coilover sleeve from rattling against the struts are the things you see coming out. Unless you didn't install any on the struts before the sleeves were put on. That could explain the rattling noises if so. What was your reason for switching to coilovers in the first place? Just curious.

Another thing, there is no fricken way you can run stock struts with coilovers if you want a good ride and want the struts to last more than a couple weeks.

MIKE!!!!! Holy Crap Dude! Whats new?

His Coilovers are actual coilover shocks, not a slip on adjustable spring system. I dont really remember what he might be talking about (I probably should, I installed them). Hoping he gets around to some pics.

Oh I assumed they were coilover sleeves. Well then I don't know what that rubber thing would be! Sounds like there might be some issues with the struts themselves. Are they rebuildable?

I agree... I believe the rubber rings that I see popping up are the rubber sleeves used as dampeners between the struts and the coil-over set-up itself (over the struts).

If this is accurate, then what's the easiest (cheapest) way to get them back into place and keep them there?

Oh yeah.... Holy crap, Mike!!! Where you been?

                          Coil over questions

I want to convert a set of capri bilstein front struts to coil-overs and fit short bilstein inserts to go on a mk2 escort. Who supplies the best kit to do this. Ive seen that rally design to the kit but is this the best one?

Couldn't tell you who supplies the stuff you're asking for, but I'm swaitching to Intrax srpings within the month, so if you want to buy my coil-over set-up.... They'll be available soon. I'd be happy to try to help with measurements to see if the Bilsteins would work with the coil-overs that I have. Let me know.....
