So I upgraded the rear struts on my 87 which gave me about an inch back however I'm still looking for the rear to go higher and the front to drop. The issue is now that I have my sub box and tools in the back there is alot of weight. So is there a stiffer spring that can be installed in the rear? I've considered swapping front to rear but was unsure. The car is my DD so it has to be drivable and practical cause right now I'm bottoming out.

I'll look into that but I was surprised at how little stiffer struts effected the rear height. If it weren't for the fact the wheels rub when I ride four people around and the fact that it bottoms on driveways I would leave it cause I like the way the rear looks.87 Mazda 323 DX - Daily Driver

I lost two inches when they blew so I figured I would gain it back with stiffer shocks but I only gained an inch an a half87 Mazda 323 DX - Daily Driver

Possible your springs are compressed as well. If your ass end dropped real low with your gear in the trunk and has been like that, or the cars been used as a storage unit, then the chances of that are good. If you want a stronger set up that will possibly not be as comfortable, but keep your rear end off the ground, try the wagon springs.Mazda

I do know that the car rode around with bad shocks for some time before I aquirred it. But he only had the two full spares in the rear. Not the 300lb cargo load that I have.87 Mazda 323 DX - Daily Driver
