I made up a roll bar for the rear this weekend.

I have the Lobucktools 1.5 inch tubing bender. It works great.

              More pics.

Have had a bad fuel starve problem on right turns, replaced the fuel pump pick up and filter. That was loose at the pump seal and gulping air on right turns under 1/2 a tank. Glad to have that fixed as that was a real bother.

Get seats that fit your purpose. Those mugen ones look to be decent for autocross, because they have the holes for the harness that he'll be using attached to his 4-point, and they have a HELL of a lot better shoulder bolsters than the MX3's do.

The MX3 is a great seat compared to the stock LX seat, but there's a LOT to be desired if you're anywhere near being above average height. If I were to autocross in non-MX3 seats, my head would be sideways from hitting the ceiling with the helmet. The MX3 seats move me down far enough so that doesn't happen. Plus, it lowers the CG a bit....

              --sarge

When I mounted the seats I lowered them and moved them back. I am 6' 2" and have tons of room now. My head wound up night next to the auto seat belt. Can't have that so I got around to the 4 point seat belts.

A look thru the bars to the wink mirror.

I picked up the header and it fit real nice. A 4-2-1 style. Had to flip the flange from the rear to the front of the flex pipe but that only took a min out at the college on a hoist. Has a nice blue coating that burnt off to a gray\blue coating.

I had a strut brace left over from the front clip of a Cady SRX. Decided to cut off the ends and make new mount plates for the scort.

              New header color.

Installed a pair of 8" Kickers and an amp.

I got tired of the nasty rasp sound from the monza exhaust. Went to Harrys mufflers where a friend works and picked up this resonator for $20. Installed in a snap and made a lot nicer sound.

Also removed the body side mouldings, ford emblem on the trunk and somebody's used car sticker.

                      Thanks....

I will be making a few how-to's. Just need some time to wright them up. Sometimes hard enugh to just keep this thread going.

I love making stuff, it is fun to see what I can make in the back yard.

I am leaning tward making racing cages for side work so a little practice on the daily driver does not hurt, as well a to show it off, Just that bar setup behind the seats stiffen up the body a lot.

Man that cage is nice. I bet it added a quite a bit of wieght. I can only imagine how much that stiffened the car. Did you paint it while it was in the car. The strut tower bar is really nice as well. I think I am gonna have to get a tubing bender and a MIG soon after seeing your work. I already had alot of plans for the welder for doing body work and want to making subframe connectors to stiffen under the car.

The bar adds some weight, but not to bad, I get to offset it some with the seat delete. I had to paint it in the car. I painted it after it was all welded and in the center of the car where the front seat would go. Then I welded it to the floor plates and the tower plates, then painted those areas last. It stiffened it up, but I do not know how much as the week before I did the coils, and that made the most differance.

All I can say is wow. Keep up the good work, man. Any rigidity you can gain is worth it. I can hear the door seals open and close slightly going over uneven roads, driveways or speedbumps. I was SO impressed with just putting a GOOD set of tires on my car.

My door seals did that. Not as bad now.
