I'm running mobil 1 synthetic, because it was the ONLY 75/90 that I could find in town. good thing it works well.

DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT!!!!! use lucas in a manual tranny. I tried it, and 3 days later my synchros were shot and I had to park the car because I couldn't drive it over 10mph. I had never leaked a drop from the tranny for 2 years, but after 3 days of lucas, I had fluid dripping from both axle seals as well as the drain plug.. Lucas is probably fine for automatics, but I think it messes with what the manuals need, and turns to bad mojo.

i agree !!! it was tested somewhere and i saw that lucas bubbles up and creates air pocket... hell i even tried it on my compressore and it bubbled in a split second...

I do remember reading an article on some syth fluid that damn near vapor locked a tranny I just could not recall who's synth it was. Well looks like I'll try the Mobil 1 synth gear oil for now until something better comes along.

Should gear oil be changed every so often like auto tranny fluid? If so, at what intervals?

Well, I tend to change it about every 3 oil changes, just because there's a lot of stuff happening in the tranny when you do a lot of track days and autocrosses, and there's no filtration system other than the magnet at the bottom of the case.

One of these days I'm going to make a fill hole so I don't have to take out the stupid speedo sending unit anymore. and maybe a temp probe, then some lines for a cooler if it needs it.

Sorry, you are wrong. GL-5 will eat up brass.

          You MUST use GL-4.

thats a first i have heard of that. i have used gl5 in trannies and diff's that had brass parts for years and never had problems as the fluid manufacturers say gl5 is back compatible with gl4 but not the other way around.
