be careful doing that. They sometimes have speed cameras on those. My friend got a ticket for going 165 mph in a 65 zone last year because the one he went past had a speed camera. Luckily, he fought the ticket and won, saying that the radar was defective because technically his car couldn't go that fast. (at least it couldn't stock. lol, his wasn't stock by any means. But the judge didn't know that....)
My family has lots of bg's!
2003 Ford Escort ZX2: Project car/future daily driver. Built Ford Tough (With Mazda Stuff)
1999 Escort ZX2: Daily driver/beater. Going to be replaced by the '03 next summer.
2000 Escort ZX2 S/R: bought wrecked, going to use as parts car
1992 Protege LX: My old race car. Just a wrecked shell right now. Waiting for scrap to go up so that I can get rid of it.
      1992 Mazda 323: Race car
1992 Escort Gt: My grandpa's old race car
1994 Escort GT: My grandpa's new race car.

        fu**ing awsome.
And to bring up the question, does a '87ish Escort share similarities with engine mounting and such, like to swap in BP's and KL to them?
1993 Mercury Tracer, KLDE VItara build swap, Compound turbos, 12 injectors, 2 wastegates, 2 Megasquirts, 2 axles, 2 everything, why not

2nd Compounded KL in the world

Some things I have noticed now that I am FINALLY back in an EGT:

The EGT's center console sucks. Find a Protege one and swap it in. Just make sure if you have premium sound and airbag you move their respective modules.

My 1994 with airbag and R134 AC only has an adjustable link on one side. It's original on both sides, I tried to remove even the inner bolt...no dice. Was this a rolling change in 1994 (ie: some cars got it as parts ran out thing)? If it helps, mine is US built with a May 1994 prodo code.

When ordering parts for this car, I have to say it's a ProtoLX or else 99% of the time, it's not in stock haha. So that's a difference I guess, ProtoLX parts are in stock, EGTs are not.

Apparently, Ford decided that they needed to make the steering shaft unique as well. Mazda wheels will NOT fit the EGT...meaning you are left with not much of a choice...ugly and uglier. Bummer, I wanted to install my JDM Presso wheel. This I am sure could be rectified with a ProtoLX swap, but really, for a steering wheel? Nah, I'll just sell it to Bo or Kris, who will probably have a catfight over it.

JDM Proto wings FIT the EGT, but only JDM. For some reason, the LX wings didn't fit as well. I am sending my JDM wing out for paint right now.

Be careful when saying all BP05s are created equal. Apparently if your BP05 was mated to an auto for the first 120k of its life, it will dyno 12whp more than the BP you have more with more mods. That one I'm still scratching my head on...the BP05 in question did come from an LTS though...

I'm sure there will be more as my car is a 1994 haha.
You want me to put that where?

You can swap the steering column from a Mazda BG to have the wheel option. Your guts behind the steering wheel for signals and what not should swap over from what I've read as well.

12whp more than what though? What were the base numbers comparing this to? The only thing that'd cause that much of a fluctuation would be ignition timing or maybe it's had a headgasket done and had to machine the head surface. 12whp is a huge difference between BPs

to swap the column you have to swap the rack as well . coupler is different

Correct. I found this out the hard way when I busted my race car's rack from crashing, and went to install an escort pony rack and found it was different and couldn't fit my steering column because of the couplers. I didn't want to swap the columns, so I just went out and bought another 323 rack and pinion.

Wait, you're surprised that different high-mileage motors are putting out different amounts of power?

Lulz, I was. I only yanked the 175k BP05 because it needed a rear main seal. Compression was perfect, just was a leaky bastard. I figured if I needed a rear main, clutch, and oil pan gasket, i should just yank it and be done. Picked up this 120k LTS motor for $125 at a pick-and-pull in Mass, dropped it in, and once adjusting the timing to 16* and putting on my existing header, I ripped off 12 more whp. The 175k motor had timing, header, cut intake, exhaust intake cam, 2.5" CorkSport catback, and a couple other things I cant entirely remember. The 120k LTS motor never got the cut intake or camshaft.

That BP05 I yanked got resealed, dropped into a 1991 ProAWD with a GT3071 and pulled damn near 400 on the dyno. I think it may even be still running, this was like 8 years ago,

turbo AWD Pros are rad. Blazin674 is putting another one together right now, it's lifted with a BP4W/B8 hybrid and a T-Bird turbo, should be sweet when it's done.
