Jon, do you have pics of your MX3 lower dash? The nice thing about that piece is that you can fit a nice touch screen and connect it to a laptop with MS running...

Here are some pics for you. All the wiring is easy for the AC/heater controls swap, everything works except the defrost/AC function for winter time. I also modified the mx3 controls to accept the escort vacuum switch for the recirc. If you need help with the wiring, just ask, I wrote it all done and made pictures. enjoy:

did u move the a/c switch down there, or is that where it was factory? Mine is located up on the upper dash in between the two center vents.

i'd love some details on the wiring... like i said, the only thing that works as far as electrical goes is the fan (and that only works on 4)

Yes i moved the AC switch down there because I was planning on using a early tracer gauge panel (with the extra pocket next to the rear window defrost) so there would of been no room for it. I used a pro AC switch since it is flat and not curved like the MX3 switch.
This may not work with every escort, they may be different between years and LX or GT, for wiring colors and placement
For wiring here goes. you need to swap the wires around and splice some together. the end result will be this for the blower harness:

R/B---R---?-------B/Y---B
BLK-------B/R-------B/W

R/B and R-----illumination redblk and red
?----I didn't use it don't remember what color this was
B/Y----fan 1 blue/yellw
B----fan 2 blue
BLK----Ground blk
B/R----fan 3 bluered
B/W----fan 4 bluewht


The wires you need to splice go to the ac switch:
MX3/Pro A/C switch to Ford wiring> (A/C to Escort)

-B/Y to B/Y fan 1 on ford harness blueyellw
-G/R to G/R for A/C on (A/C cycle switch) grnred
-GY to DB/DG for A/C indicator grnyellw to drkbluedrkgrn

that console is sick! i've never seen one like that in an mx-3 before....come to think of it...i've never seen an mx-3 with cupholders LOL.

what year mx-3 was that from? i'm assuming it was a GS...?

That's the front half of a 3rd gen Escort console, not an MX-3. I used to have the same one in my car before I picked up a Protege one. You have to hack it up pretty good to make it fit. You can use the MX-3 shift boot with it as long as you swap the plastic ring that bolts the boot in place, but it doesn't fit perfectly. And makes the shifter look like it's farther back than it should be.

nice, because i'd love to have deeper cup holders, the protege/323 console doesn't seem to keep my coffee from going everywhere haha. i might try to add a support.

u are exzactly right its from a zx 2 and i had to hack it damn good im taking out the motorized seat belts and puting normal one in then the rear part of the console will sit flush . i put in tracer tail lights today there all red instead of orange blinkers and got the parts to finish the console but it will be tricky theres defanatly some cuting and fabing but its not that bad i does not look factory but its good for me and the car gods .
