    Cool Cosworth & RS 200

    I pretty much went to car heaven last night (pretty close to it---if it was all racecars I'd have been there). A friend reffered a guy to me that needed a rollcage in a vintage fiat racecar. His shop was down the street by the airport and on my way home so I said I'd stop by and give him a quote---I was warned that the guy had quite a collection---that was an understatment.

    When I walked in I had to walk around the Carrera Gt and squeeze past the Group B Puegot to get to the good stuff! Can Am GTP cars, all kinds of Championship winning Imsa road race cars---Indycars driven by Parnelli Jones and Mario Andretti---Paris Dakar Motorcycles---Ferrari's, Mercedes Gullwings, Hans Stuck's decade dominating BMW werks car---unbelievable stuff!

    Then I got to my to favorites---the Escort Cosworth (streetcar) and a pretty damn clean Escort RS 200 Group B car...I'll let the pics speak from hear---the grey chassis is Hans Stuck's 320 BMW car being restored---650hp-1200hp out of a 4 cyl depending on track/qualifing???

    Oh and when I got back to the shop today a 959 showed up...

        I've seen that RS before, at a rallycross in OR... but damn. That is one helluva garage. I think I just shat bricks.

          That Escort looks very similar to one that was featured in an old issue of SCC back in the day, but i think that one had a WRC style rear spoiler on the back.

                        How do you do stuff like this?

                        Do you make a really meticulous photo work log to keep it all straight? Do you have a super detailed FSM that includes mods? Are you just so familiar with cars that you take them apart and remanufacturer them in your sleep?

                        It takes an engineering degree right, math, drafting, and maybe an extra testicle.

                            I dunno how you do this but you're prolly on the right track. OTOH you shoulda seen the feller who built my rallycar gearbox take apart the two dead ones that went into making the one runner. He just ripped em apart and had their guts in a bucket in five minutes. If I tried that, that bucket would be the final resting place of every single little doodad and gewgaw in there. my god it was like watching a shark feeding frenzy, and the only reason it all went back together was this feller really really really knows what he's doing, having done all the gearbox work for the factory team when they ran Paris-Dakar...
