Got new starter in my 91 egt finally after a long time of slacking and the starter turns over with direct power and starts the car no problem. It just wont turn over or do anything when I try and use the key. Could it be the relay? i can hear something clicking but i cant find it, or maybe my neutral safety switch? any ideas?

I had the same problem. Replaced my starter and had this starting problem. Turned out to be a couple of things; poor connection with battery terminals and that negative ground on that bracket on the transmission had come loose somehow. Cleaned everything up and the problem went away.

i will check but this was random... i went out to the mall about a 25 min drive, came home, went down the road to the store less than a mile, I tried to leave a few hours later for work and had nothing... i had to pop start it. But friday it will be going on the lift to to check it out
