    1991-1996 escort gt crankshaft pulley

ok guys i know this mays sound stupid but i have a quick question in the 1991-1996 ford escort gt 1.8l bp was their any changes in the crankshaft pulley i.e instead of haveing a v band belt for the alternator / water pump did the 96 escort gt come with 2 serpatine belts grooves ? instead of 1 serpatine belt for the power steering and 1 v band belt for the water pump / alternater ?

its been awhile since iv been real active on the forums and the only thing i remmeber being a difference in crank shaft pulleys over the years were small nose and big nose cranshaft pulleys
any help on this subject will help since i have a ebay seller trying to get one over on me and not give me a full reimbursement of my money for his miss advertisement of his item that he had for sell that i bought

at the moment im running a flipped water pump pulley since i have a manual steering rack and no power steering so all i really need is a v band pulley for my escort but i will be boosting my egt soon and feel kinda skeptical leaving the flipped water pump pulley as a crankshaft pulley any input would help

Fudge on Me then ty atomic

So what do you think about keeping the oem flipped water pump pulley as a crankshaft pulley on a boosted application do you think i will be fine or will it fudge something up ?
so far on the n-a 1.8lbp it works fine with no issues but on a boosted engine ? im not to shure about it withstanding the abuse it will go through

Use a proper crank pulley or you will hate life, so will your engine.

Match the crank pulley to the accessory pullies and continue man.

ty for you input im thinking of just returning to the stock oem crankshaft pulley an running it like that i have to wait 1 week 2 finnish pulling parts of the protege rip and then send the protege to the junkers so i can have more room in my drive way to start throwing on the turbo parts

flipped water pump pulley sounds dumb as hell.

you can use a water pump pulley from an Aspire (dunno about the alternator) to use the dual rib pulley, that's what I have on my wagon since we damaged the one from the GTR

same thing i was thinking i only notice it was a flippped water pump pully on the crankshaft when i did the new timing belt on the scort but didnt have any spares atm cause i was at a buddys house doing the work cause i didnt have a air compressor at the time I already sent back the new llighten after market crank pulley for a refund from e-gay i will just purchase a new obx one or just use a stock oem crank pulley

thought it take me a week to pull parts from protege but with the new 10 gallon air compressor from e-gay i say 2-3 days and the protege will be on its way to the junkers and i can start throwing all my turbo parts on the scort

from what I have studied on engine balancing and harmonics...I don't even trust my old stocker...would love to get aftermarket upgrade (there's one for miata, but need to alter for EGT pulley config.)

So...use the proper lower pulley...very important actually.

for the power levels / engine speeds most people here are running the factory pulley should be fine.

Yep, OEM is fine. I just changed mine to a lower mileage one last season. The rubber was starting to peel, so it was losing it's dampening properties lol

i have the 93 escort gt and if i remember correctly the small nose crank you dont nneed to take off the bolt on the crank shaft to remove the crankshaft pulley ? and the big nose crank bolt you have to remove to take off the crankshaft pulley ?

93 *should* be a big nose, but yea, small nose you can take the pulley off without removing that bolt.
