    MX-3 Koni Red Inserts with ZX2 S/R Springs or ZX2 stock springs

    any foreseeable problems?

    This will go on a base ZX2, so I would not need to change the struts mount (MX-3 have smaller diameter shafts, right?)

    I've heard that the Koni inserts are designed to run shorter in extension, and I've blown a few S/R Tokico trying to run them on longer wagon rear springs, so I know that over-extension can hurt struts.

    It's only the sedan/wagon 3rd gen Escorts that have the smaller shaft diameter, all ZX2 models come with the 22mm shaft as per KYB/Monroe/ect. So you will probably need to dremel the upper spring perch/thrust bearing bore to the proper diameter.

    Other then that, yes the Koni inserts are shorter to allow proper travel on a lowered vehicle.

      Do we know how much shorter they are and how we might get them to sit higher in their travel?

      Some sort of spacer or bushing in the bottom of the host housing?

        Spacer would do it! Are you referring to the Koni 8610/8611 btw?
