I'm like 99% sure you just need the connector and the two extra wires don't matter, I think I ran into the same thing either with my old turbo GT or with the wagon

Between SOHC and DOHC (with ccs) is one little different. SOHC haven't signal for VICS. Near injection rail there is plug: in DOHC 8-pin's, SOHC 6-pin's.
These 2 pin's is exactly signal for VICS.
one of the wires is for VICS the other is for the fan switch which is moved to the injector harness on the DOHC. also the DOHC motor has a 2nd wheel in the distributor and an additional signal wire for it.
Hmm, thinking this is the same between ford/mazda. I've got to get some wiring diagrams. :/
so, how do you guys handle power steering? just pull all the bp stuff? im using the mx3 stuff now, the escort stuff doesnt look like itll work on the bp.
I think anything from a mazda B series will work, b6, b8, bp (obviously)
But yeah, like Matt i dont have power steering either and it's fine 99% of the time. If anyone other than you might end up driving the car it's a good idea to have it, though.

this is on street tires, but still- with a decent suspension setup torque steer is manageable and that's the only thing that was ever a concern without power steering.
and yeah, looping the lines like that would probably work.

I actually depowered my rack by taking it apart, removing the main piston/seal, greasing the gears, and putting it back together. https://www.flyinmiata.com/tech/depower.php
If you remove the seal you can actually plug all of the lines and it'll be slightly easier to turn vs. forcing fluid through the lines as you turn. I just crimped them shut as shown in the how-to.

Wish you guys drove each others cars so we could get a say on how much of a difference there is in doing it either way. I'll probably lazy way out and loop them. The how to seems pretty involved and I'm not sure it worth all the effort.
