did you bother to check the timing on it?? you can fix timing fairly easy with the v6 as they dont knock valves unless you really **** it.

Sorry Chris, didn't have my phone on me last night.

Are the 10:1 ZEs interference motors? I wouldn't be surprised if the timing belt is broken.

Blows, i need to find a motor soon.

From my research the kl motors aren't interference motors.

Even if it is the timing I don't have room for it. Plus id have to drop money on a timing belt kit which is something I didn't want to do.

damn that sucks! i remember i picked up a 94 mx3 v6 for a kl swap on my old protege gt...the thing wouldn't start which was no biggy to me (ghey K8 engine)...pulled the back seat out and turns out the fuel pump was disconnected some how lol, ran fine afterwards.

That's one of the options i have, actually.... my 94 MX3 GS runs INCREDIBLY well, as it should with only 80k miles. I've almost decided on multiple occasions to just throw that motor in the Escort with bolt ons, and if that isn't enough, a mild turbo setup.

The MX3, despite being heavier, felt quite a bit quicker than the Escort, and it made all the right noises.

well if you run a K8 setup with bolt ons, you can just transfer them over to a DE or ZE later on down the road, it'll all bolt up lol.
